  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Had a rock chip, and crack the front windshield. Anyone else replace the windshield..
If so did you use a dealer or glass repair service. Concerned with the electronics on the front windshield

Thanks in advance

Insurance claim an I would use dealer.

My rock hit turned into a crack and at that time (April 2015) there was no aftermarket glass available for the 2015 Genesis. I would always go for the OEM Glass anyway if possible.

There have been other posters on here with the same issue. Use OEM only. Hopefully you have glass protection on your insurance plan as it is around a $1500 repair.

My front glass was cracked while at the dealer getting some other mainteance done. Dealer had to order a replacement windsheild - took about 2 weeks to get in. My dealer doesn't do that kind of work, so they had to get a 3rd party to come in and replace it. This was about 2 months ago and all the electronics on the front windsheild work fine. I was also concerned because I have the Ultimate...HUD, auto high beams, etc., all work just fine. Just be prepared for a delay in getting it replaced.

Oh yeah...I called every local windsheild replacement company to see if they could do it quicker. Living in San Antonio, I figured someone would have this glass but like a lot of parts on this car so far, no one carries it. In fact, I couldn't even get people to call me back when they said they needed to research it and promised to get back to me.

I started a thread for this already. I used the dealer and the total was $2,500 for 3.8 Ultimate Htrac windshield. I paid a $250 deductible and my insurance is reimbursing me for the rest.

I had my windshield replaced yesterday. I filed the claim with USAA and they contract Safelite for all repairs. He installed in my gargage.

My tech did a GREAT job. ($100 deductible & OEM glass) HUD works perfectly, no dirt or marks on my light interior, EZ tag & all stickers replaced neatly. Impressive work.

Dredging up an old post. Just had 2015 Ultimate windshield replaced with factory glass. Total $2995.46 after "Calibration of Front Radar Camera". Holy Moly who would have thunk it.

I've been thinking that mine had been replaced at one time before I bought it... and the sensors didn't get recalibrated. My "Auto" wipers pretty much stay on strike unless I'm going through a car wash.
