  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello! Just picked up my 1st ever Hyundai - 2015 3.8 AWD Sedan (Luxury) black on black Canadian model. Love the car but have a question about the sound system. The sound system is awesome but for some reason it doesn't seem to stay on the surround sound feature. Am I missing something in the settings for it to default to the surround sound vs non surround sound?

Mine stays on once selected in the settings menu.

I think mine sounds better, crisper, when it is turn off but as noted above, once turn on or off, it should stay that way.

I actually like the surround sound with many types of music on my 17 speaker system (Ultimate Package). However, I don't at all like the surround sound on the 14 speaker system in the loaner Genesis I'm currently driving (Signature Package) .

After making adjustments, remember to click the button at the bottom that's labeled "Done". I've overlooked that at times.

And where might that DONE button be? Went back to the car, hit set up, found the surround sound tab, which was off once again, but I can't find the button that will save this setting. Thanks again for the help.

That would be because there is no "done" button...

I guess the 3.8 Sedan is that different from my 2015 3.8 Ultimate Coupe.
"Settings" - "Sound" - various options (balance/ fade, etc.); final one on the list: "Done".
Unfortunate that such a confirmation option isn't universal...

Here's where you can make the typical snide remarks about Coupe owners.

No snide remarks - but answering questions about the 2015 Genesis Sedan in the 2015 Genesis Sedan Forum based on your 2015 Genesis Coupe makes no sense and creates unnecessary confusion for the OP. The cars are nothing alike - in fact, really dumb for Hyundai to use the same name for 2 vastly different cars.

Qualifies as snide. How am I to know the sound system is so different? I gather from this forum that there is a wide variety of systems installed, from model to model, year to year, option to option. Who is to know, besides you, every possible configuration?
I was just trying to help a fellow car guy or gal with a possible solution. Forgive me all to hell for intruding on hallowed ground where I'm not worthy.

I'm not trying to take sides here, or anything, but I don't see anything snide about pointing out legitimate facts about differences between coupe and sedan systems. I know I've been confused before as to which I was talking about. Certainly not worth getting bent out of shape about, IMO.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

You answered authoritatively as if you knew the solution to his 2015 Genesis SEDAN problem. If you had prefaced your answer with "in my 2015 Genesis Coupe", there would be no confusion (which there was by the OP asking where the done button was). I merely pointed that out - not sure why you seem so wound up about that...

I'm guessing than if my system does not save the last setting in the sound set up option to keep the surround sound system on, I should go back to the dealer and have it checked out? It does seem odd that it does not save this setting...

Agreed - I'd say you have a problem with the unit. My Ultimate and the Tech loaner I'm currently driving both "remember" that setting when it's changed. Your likely have a bad head unit - mine is currently being replaced because it started "forgetting" my Sirius subscription every time I turned the car off. Take yours back to the dealer and show them the issue!

A bit of an update - need advice/input.

Took car in to have the head unit replaced for the surround sound issue. The replacement head unit took care of the sound issue, but now the back up camera doesn't work or mirrors tilt when in reverse.

Dealer replaced with 2 more head units and the same thing - no back up camera!!

They now have a call into Hyundai Canada Technical Support, but this is ridiculous. I can't see that all of a sudden there are a bunch of faulty head units out there.

Any suggestions on what I can suggest to as a possible solution. I'm getting annoyed at the situation and certainly trying to remain calm as they trouble shoot what is going on.

Silver lining is that I work from home and the dealer picks up my car every time they work on it, but I want to have a working surround sound button AND back up camera.

Your back-up camera doesn't work at all or it is screwy? After replacing my head unit to address the Sirius issue, my back up camera is screwed up with extra guidelines (with green section) that are not accurate (and don't turn) and I lost the "look straight down over the bumper view" option. Still waiting on final resolution of this.

My back up camera does not work at all! Screen is black and mirrors do not tilt down.

PROBABLE CAUSE ..... When they installed the head unit they either left a connector loose or disconnected another connector or both

Nikgen, I had the same problem; it's a setting on the system. I realize I communicated this before, but obviously your dealer technician hasn't figured out what the setting is yet. I will put a call into my service department and get the name of the technician who worked on my car. Maybe if your tech can contact mine and they can get it resolved?

Let me know if you're interested...
