I had a '94 Isuzu Rodeo that had an amazing system that I hand picked components. There is not a factory system that can compare.
Now that I'm a "family man", stock systems are good enough, and the 17 speaker Lexicon is darn good for factory.

Yikes. For one who is particular about their audio, I'm surprised you have never installed an aftermarket system. The best car audio system I have heard was in an acquaintances Honda CRX about 20 years ago. He probably spend upwards of $20k on equipment.I'm particular about my audio, and the difference is significant. The clarity, imaging and dynamic range (bass "punch") in the original '09 system is superior to the '12.
That system was one of the best audio systems I've ever listened to.... anywhere, in any form.

I don't bother with DVD-A. Just 320kbps MP3s.If you can find an '09 Tech, bring along a DVD-A and try it. You'll be surprised...
