  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey Gang,

On Wednesday I finally took the plunge on a '15 3.8 Ultimate (Empire State Grey, Ivory) after discerning that there was no reason for me to wait for the '16 that justified the difference in price. I'm very happy with the deal I got, and I LOVE the car, but there is one thing that is really frustrating me...

The Sirius Data and Traffic do not work, and when I called Sirius they told me that my radio does not support Traffic OR data. I plan on taking it to the dealership this weekend, but wondered if any of you have had this problem and know of an easier fix.

Thanks in Advance,

Scott

Are you sure you got the Ultimate? I mean I know what they told you they were selling you, but what did they actually sell you? In any case, please, PLEASE in the future verify all that works before signing anything. Make the dealer solve those problems, not you.

Yes it's an Ultimate with the 9.2" Navi. I did my homework, I just didnt call Sirius before I signed the papers, maybe next time I will.

Speak to somebody else you should be getting it.

I hear you and wasn't implying fault on your part. It's really fault on the dealer's part. All that stuff should be working and activated before you drive off the lot.

It's just so tough at delivery because if you're anything like me, you're like a little kid at Christmas time, and unfortunately the car-buying process usually takes so long which I believe this is intentional in a lot of cases. They want you anxious to get out of that cramped office and ready to sign anything.

I even fell victim of not verifying everything to a degree with my 2015 because I didn't fully test my bluetooth integration, and my BT radio was busted from the time I drove off the lot (it has since been replaced by Hyundai who was exceptionally apologetic about the whole thing).

If you do indeed have the Ultimate (has the DIS knob in front of the arm rest - see pic) - then yes your radio has & supports XM Data to include: Weather, traffic, fuel prices, stock ticker, sports ticker and movie times & locations.

My new Sonata came in with the same problem. Had to speak to Sirius two times before it was resolved first time I was told the same thing “car radio wasn’t compatible”. Second time I asked to speak to someone in authority and they spent more time investigating the problem. Finally I got my traffic and Data sources. It’s a little like calling the Genesis hotline (support) it depends on who you talk to as is my experience .

The other thing to consider when it is activated is that the data portion should come with 3 years complimentary.

Finally got his working, thanks for all the advice, the problem was indeed with Sirius and their staff answering the calls... Had to escalate twice to finally get someone to set it up for me... What a hassle, and what a shame.

Thanks again to everyone for your help with this!

While the car is running and with a clear view to the sky, direct tune the sirius channel to 1. I am a Hyundai salesperson and own a 3.8 AWD Tech package. The same thing happened to mine and this worked for me.
