How often do u use G2 NAV vs. your smartphone?

I have Ultimate so it has the bigscreen DIS NAV. But I almost never use it b/c I still prefer my Samsung Note4 Google Nav, it's quicker, I can do voice commands easy, and real time traffic seems smarter. What about y'all?

I fully plan to use my Droid Turbo 2's Google maps instead of the nav when I get the car in a couple weeks. I'll still try it but I can't imagine it being easier than the phone.

+1. The only time the on-board nav has the edge is when you can't get a good cell signal. I frequently run them together, two women telling me where to go!! ;-)

I use my onboard Nav all the time, almost 100 percent time over my phone. Searching is typically easier on my car than my phone; just press the Bluelink button and speak my destination.

Agreed - no issues with the Nav for me. I run Waze on the phone sometime for speed traps, etc., as well. I really like the HUD Nav instructions as well - phone won't provide that nice feature.

I use the on-board Navi-puter as it will get me there without sending me through asteroid fields or super novas.

All kidding aside, I'm not in that much of a hurry. I have noticed that it's routing is not the fastest, but it will get me there and I'm not diddling with my phone. If I were in sales or a road warrior, I would probably use something else.

I always use my car's navigation as a first choice because it doesn't wear down my phone's battery (I don't generally carry a charging cable with me) and it's more convenience than messing around with a device while I'm driving. I HAVE noticed that Google Maps navigation is more accurate than the system in my Genesis...

I combo. I use the Genesis App to send directions to the car Nav most of the time. When it is more expedient to use the car, I always use the Google Search either by typing from the menu or using the Bluelink button. The car's native nav search is okay but voice recognition blows.

I use the on board nave almost all the time. I like the HUD of the nav. I also like simply saying the name of the destination after pushing the mirror button. It is so easy!!! I have only had the button fail once.

Smartphone will always be better no question. But I try to use Navi cause of the HUD like ppl say. For POI it kinda sucks. It's lead me to at least 2 non-existant bank branches and gas stations.

on our recent trip we used the car system exclusively. for trips around town we usually use the phone.

I send the directions to my car through the app, and just use my car's navigation since the HUD is pretty awesome that I don't have to keep looking at a phone where to go. I'm pretty sure google maps is more accurate, but my car's navigation has been spot on every time I've used it so far.

Yes. Its Google Search. This works much better that the cars NAV system for sure.

The good part about Waze is you get real-time updates about upcoming heavy traffic, hazards, cops, etc.

The bad part however is it is on a tiny phone screen which makes referencing it visually or contributing to the crowd sourcing prompts dangerous.

While not disagreeing with you, I do have it mounted on a charging windshield mount next to the door pillar, where I can touch the screen without taking my hand off the steering wheel, or my eyes off the road. Still, if I'm too busy driving, like in heavy rush hour traffic, I don't touch it.

+1. Exactly! My Nexus 5 is mounted real close to where a HUD would display. Not sure about reaching up to touch the windshield, though,,, ;-)
