In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Read with interest the travails of adding LED turn signal and DRL. My car is leased and I just thought I would go with white PIAA halogen as suggested by another poster. Bought two of these babies but now see that there are two 1157s on each side. Shame on me but didn't see any mention of four. Anyway, was thinking for fun of just switching out one on each side. I know both bulbs are functional as DRL and signal and I can have white signals in this state. Curious if anyone had tried this or if there would be any visual 'excitement' with this arrangement (one amber one white). Thanks for any comments. Please save any DA knocks as I also think this is kind of a crazy idea.

On the 2009-2011:

- The front turn signal is a dual-filament, double contact 2357A/1157A bulb. It is only lit when the turn signal/hazards are activated.

- There are two wires on each side going in from the main harness that power the turn signal. These are both hot, everything inside the headlamp housing share a common ground.

- I would tap the sidemarker or DRL power wire to one of the turn signal wires to have it illuminate as a DRL. Normal turn signal function should take over when activated.

Sorry should have been clearer as I have a 2015. Was surprised to find two amber 1157 on each side and both are lit as DRL and to signal. So if I changed one 1157 on each side would have an amber and white for both functions. Maybe it would be a cool effect ..at the worst would think it would look similar to having both amber.

I have a 2015 genesis and when trying to replace the amber turn/drl's with LED's the driver side works but the passenger side won't illuminate. Any suggestions?

Tried to flip bulb with no luck and both bulbs work on the drivers side.....

Cree Bulbs...built in fuse

Ej21 where did you get those from? And did you use load resisters?

Those Cree bulbs hyperflash. I know their site says they don't but I got them, they wasted my time over a week telling me to try all this different stuff, but still hyperflash. In the end you need a real load resistor (not a fuse which is entirely different) to utilize those cree bulbs, unless you don't mind the hyperflash. The PIAA non-LEDs are nice though not near as bright. You can go with the Triton V3 switchback option but that has it's own nuances that I have not yet been brave enough to try.

When you say hyperflash do you mean the light goes on and off very quickly? If so, all LEDs do that, but it's only an issue when recording video of them at the wrong refresh/frame rate. I've never noticed "flashing" visible to the human eye when swapping any halogen lights to LEDs before.

I replaced my DRL with LEDs and installed load resistors. No Hyperflash. I have a 2015 V8 Ultimate and only have 1 bulb for turn and DRL. I noticed that the passenger side bulb started turning off and on every now and then, I decided to go back stock until a better option came out. So the other day while I was being followed by a Gen at about 200 yards in rear view it appeared to be yellow headlights coming my way. It actually looked pretty cool. Think I will leave it. Also those resistors get HOT!!!!

Hyperflash is when you use the turn signal and it flickers on and off very very fast. It is actually a feature meant to tell you if your turn signal is out, it does this by detecting load on the light bulb. If the load is not what it expects, it hyperflashes to tell you that the turn signal light is out. LEDs do not have the same load so you have to get a load resistor when you buy an LED (not a fuse which prevents shorts) to trick this feature into not hyperflashing the bulb. The problem with load resistors is they get very very hot especially with sustained usage. So you have to mount them to metal with a real mount, not heat tape. Some people have had luck keeping the load resistor in the headlight housing, but it gets so hot I just can't trust this technique especially as you are using it as a DRL which means during the day it is always on, that sucker is going to get scorching hot. There are other ways mentioned in this forum.

The video flashing, you are correct, it is a refresh difference. The hyperflash is an entirely different thing.

Ah, thanks. I've never ran into that issue with any of my cars, but then I also haven't used LEDs for signal lights. I found the slow on/off Halogens have is actually nicer than the instant on/off way the LEDs work.

Also I just put some white LEDs as my trunk lights which work great and I went with white halogen lights for my fogs and DRL because I wanted to avoid LEDs with very low light output. I guess that also avoided any need for resistors.

Anyway, I personally love the white DRL on the 2012 and 2015 models. I think yellow just doesn't match the white LEDs and low beams.

Other people have had a similar problem with LEDs. You may have to rewire one of the sockets as described in this post (although on his car it was the driver's side that was wired weird). I'd recommend checking with a multimeter to see if this is the problem before you start playing with wires.

This vendor makes an adapter, but I think it only works with their control box. There may be a universal adapter out there that I don't know about.

I bought the Triton VLEDS Switchback bulbs and they look amazing when they work. The only problem i have with them is that after being on for 20 mins, one side flickers from white to yellow and it just continues. For that reason, I spend most of my driving with the DRLs off all together. I didn't need to use the load resistors either. I may just go back to using the Cree White LED Bulbs.

What really doesn't make since is that the 2016 Genesis is in stock now and they finally have the LED DRLs and they look amazing!! I went to price them and they are $3,000.00 for the lights, and another $2,500.00 for the wiring harness and that doesn't cover the install price. I'm not sure why Hyundai insists on making everything so difficult on this car to upgrade!! Not happy right now.

Wait, there are 4 amber 1157 bulbs? What trim level do you have? I have the signature so I just want to make sure I have the same type of lights. I was about to buy a pair of these http://www.amazon.com/PIAA-19228-Xtreme-White-Miniature/dp/B0002MAIJE/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8. I checked my housing this am before I left the house and I only saw one on each side. I want to make sure before I pull the trigger so I only pay shipping once. Yes, I am that cheap.

For those of you that have switched your amber DRL/turn signals, is it one pair of bulbs or two? I just checked the owner's manual and it only indicates one pair. Then again, it isn't very specific.
