  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 Geness 4.6 V-8, lately I've had problems when I go to start the car (I have push button start), it will not start and the display says steering is locked. I push the start button while turning the wheel and it starts so far. I've had all the recall work done already. Anyone else having this problem? Making me very uneasy thinking it might lock up while I'm driving!

There may be a problem with your brakes.

Try testing it without turning wheel but pressing brake pedal hard. If that works then have brake pedal switch adjusted or replaced.

I had the brake light switch replaced already, it did not resolve the problem. after a lot of headaches and research.....replaced the battery in smart key and has been starting ever since. Never did get the signal that the battery was low.....I hope this fixes the problem....

I replace my smart key batteries every two years, regardless.

Well......My car is not starting sometimes, again. I notice now that when I park my car turn off the engine and open the driver door it chimes but nothing is left on that I can tell, it shows the door is open, but the car is off. Then when i go to start the car, it won't start, no lights on dash at all. I open the driver door again and close it and it usually starts........Has anyone heard of this before?? Thanks for any info, getting very annoyed..

finally got my car fixed, it was the steering ignition lock module. Has something to do with the anti-theft stuff. expensive $900+

I recently bought a 2016 Genesis 3.8. I have a push start engine. Monday after work I tired to leave the house, I started my car, but the steering wheel was locked. I couldn't turn what so ever, though I could reverse and drive start. I had a tow truck take it to the Hyundai dealership, but they can't figure it out. It's been there all week. Tuesday the mechanic said he can get power to it, but they won't turn. It only has 34,000 miles that I bought from a different dealership. Its still under warranty because of the miles.

What did your mechanic say about this issue?
