  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Transmission Problems

I sent the makers of Sprint Boost an e-mail with a few questions. Just wanted some reassurance on the quality of the product and asked some warranty questions. Will also ask my Hyundai tech what he thinks, just in case, but I'm pretty sure I will get it.

Dear Mr. XXXXXXXX,

Thank you for your email.

Sprint Booster will not mess with any of the car’s electronics since it only alters the pedal’s signal without interfering to ECU parameters. For this reason Sprint Booster cannot void the vehicles warranty however this also depends upon each manufacturer’s warranty policy.

Sprint Booster has been tested by TUV SUD and it is certified with European Conformity type approval (EC type approval mark No e24031712).

Best Regards

Stamatis Boulekos

I'm going to read up on the warranty just to make sure.

Having put up with the sorriest shifting transmission in the world I decided to look at trading my Genesis. Since I looked at M-35's when I purchased the Genesis ans I own an I-35, which has a smooth as silk shifting transmission, I started researching the M-37. In a review of the M-37 I read this:" The result is a transmission that always feels slightly confused, sometimes surprised, and rarely goes about its job subtly or unnoticed. Shifts can be jerky; downshifts are usually delayed; the wrong gear at the wrong time can be selected."

The above is a perfect summation of my transmission problems. I have decided that in an effort to increase MPG, the entire industry has screwed-up their transmissions.

I guess I'll drive the cheaper of the worst transmissions and keep the Genesis.

My transmission has started jerking when my foot lets up on the pedal like when slowing through an intersection then trying to resume speed. Not always and difficult to intentionally replicate, but at certain speeds it does happen.

So this happens when you are just driving normal OR is it when you punch it to go and then let your foot of the gas right away? I find it that if you punch it and then have to pull your foot off the gas it will jerk a little cause of the drop in RPMs.

Very slow speed (>20mph), foot off the gas I coasted through and at about 15 or so pressed down what I would call moderately. The tranny did a stutter step it seemed between low and second. Sorry I took so long to reply.

I can't help but agree with you on automatic transmission behavior - =manufacturers set it for mpg versus immediacy, and its not something I'm a fan of.

What have you tried to remediate your transmission issues so far? Are the problems just like what you quoted above?

Transmission was surging and jerking like i got hit from behind, after 3 trips to the dealer they finally said I needed a new transmission. Cars only 3 years old with 58 000 miles on it. I have a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner with 200 000 as still runs like the day i bought it. Going to trade the car as soon as its fixed.

There are a couple other threads about transmission shifting as well. I can agree with all of you that something feels a little out of sync between gears 1 and 2. Sometimes I can find myself looking for more power and the Genesis not being the the appropriate gear.

Some people have bought a "sprint booster" and says there is a noticeable difference. Not sure how much it really helps though. I think my next purchase for the Genesis will be the sprint booster though.

Just took my Genesis in to dealer for 3rd time about transmission problems, finally they agreed it was f*(^(ed, now it needs a new transmission, only 58000 miles on it. Not happy. My 1999 Toyota 4Runner with 200 000 miles runs like the day i bought it.

I went thru issues on the up-shift, not the down-shift, that led to my transmission being replaced under warranty at about 25K. It's been rock solid ever since, with about 65K on it now.

2-3-4 upshifts on 2012 V6 were getting more and more abrupt.
Being replaced under warranty this week.
35,500 miles & 3-years old to the month.
Got a 2015 5.0 signature+tech loaner.
Except for the 100 HP and the seats I don't like the 2015 as much as the 2012

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
mine is back in the shop again for transmission problems...I thought that the update and resetting values would have been the fix. From a dead stop you start to drive off and its like the car is building up power then BAM into 3rd almost (and it has) leaving a scratch, lurches forward big time....

Weird thing is that it will be fine for days, maybe a week then go back to acting crazy.

They tried doing the update and reset route on mine, which actually made it worse. Not to long after that I had a new transmission.

Same thing here except they never gave mine back, service rep called me and said he had authorization to replace it. I traded it in that day.

After reading this thread I'm glad I bought the 2011 4.6 with the ZF transmission.

If you drove the 8-speed for a while, you might not be so happy!! :)
