Round Rock Hyundai experience

I purchased my car at Round Rock Hyundai in Round Rock, TX and had a very positive experience. I started by test driving and making sure I liked the car, then going on the internet to get prices from dealers in the Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio areas. With the lowest bid in hand I called up the closest 3 dealerships and asked if they would match the lowest offer. RR Hyundai got back to me and said they would match the offer. I still wasn't completely sold so I asked if I could take the car Friday afternoon for the weekend and bring it back Monday around lunch time. They agreed and after I tried out the car in my normal weekend routine I was totally sold. I took my trade in and they gave me a fair price for it. The only bad part was that I couldn't get the Hyundai 0.9% rate since my FICO score was too low (the finance guy said that less than 3% of ppl qualify). I was still going to take Hyundai's nearly 10% offer (just as a comparison everyone else who offered me financing came back with 5.95%ish) since they'd give me $750 cash back and I could pay it off in 30 days so as not to take that hude finance hit but of course the finance guy said that if I paid it off in 30 days they may not let me keep the $750 (which is BS...but whatever though it would have been nice to have an off the lot price under 38K for such an awesome car). Overall a very positive experience. Oh and they had put an "appearance package' on the car that made it look TERRIBLE. I made them take all that stuff off before taking delivery.

3% who qualify sounds like a scam or he was not be honest. Did he say what FICO scored you needed to get the best rate?

I have been in banking/financial sector for nearly two decades and have seen perhaps a thousand credit bureau pulls. These aren't car loan reports either, but mortgage or commercial reports which are substantially more thorough in several ways. Some of these clients have net-worth's nearing a billion dollars*. While I have seen many in the 820-835 range, I have never seen a FICO of 850 or higher.

* I understand that net worth is not a direct indicator of someones credit worthiness but you get the point.

Most Tier 1 loans are around 720+. I'm not in finance but from being in the business I've picked up a few things. Another thing is that there are regional and district offers that will differ depending on location.

Yeah, 850 is damn near impossible. I have stellar credit and even I'm only just over 800.

FICO has much more to do with your willingness to carry debt and pay it than your net worth. My problem is that I hate to be in debt so I don't really borrow money, and if I do I pay it off as soon as possible.

He may have said 850, but if he did, it is a scam becasue I beleive that 850 is the max score (although there are 3 different rating agencies), and virtually impossible to get.

I don't know for sure, but I would think the percentage of people over 750 is higher than 3%. The nubmer of people at 850 is probably zero, or .1 percent at the most.

Thats a pretty good deal on the car. I purchased my Genesis from Round Rock also but got the 3.8L. I think I might even payed more for it than you did for the 4.6L. Good Job!

Thanks, I think the 2 main factors in getting the price I got were the internet research (getting the quotes from various dealers and such) and the fact that I waited until the last few days of the month to do the deal.

I also bought mine from Round Rock Hyundai. Our salesman was beyond great, but the sales manager and GM treated us terribly. Nearly walked on the deal more than once. I won't buy from them again, ever.
