  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone. My first post, as I am new to the forum. Picked up my 2015 3.8 AWD with all the available option packages. BUT, I'm already having problems with the battery going dead. I drove the car home 365 miles from the dealership. Everything was fine. My wife drove it for a couple of days and then it has sat in the garage for five days. Went to start it earlier today and it wouldn't start. I had to boost it from my other vehicle and it took a long time to get it to start. The battery must have really been drained. Drove it around the neighborhood for a bit and then let it idle for an hour. Parked it for about seven hours and then tried to start it again... same thing. Dead battery. The sticker on this car was nearly $53k. It has 425 miles and on it and this is happening already. I checked to make sure nothing was left on in the car that could drain it. While it is winter here and the temps have been in the teens, I have it parked in my garage which maintains a temp of about 40 degrees. It really sucks because I live in the northern most part of Michigan, along the Lake Superior shoreline and the nearest dealership is 220 miles from me. I got the car from a dealership in Minnesota because they had the colors and options combinations I wanted. I will call the service department on Monday. Oh, boy! Sure am disappointed. I research long and hard before I buy a car and all the information pointed me to this car. I love the styling and all the features, but not happy about this problem.

It does suck to have battery problems with a new car.

I had that happen with a new 2007 Infiniti M35X. It turned out that besides the long boat trip from Asia and transport across the US, the car had been sitting in the dealer's storage lot for what seemed to me an extended period of time.

You might want to check the date of manufacture that is shown on the plate attached to the frame of the driver's side door. It could be that it has sat somewhere for a long time. In any case, it should be taken care of under warranty.

I guess you need to decide whether the 8 hour round-trip and time at the dealer's service shop is worth it or if it would be more convenient to get a replacement locally at your own expense. Or, it might be worth it to contact the original dealer and see what they might offer. You never know until you try.

It might be an electrical problem or hood/trunk not closing properly. I believe a few others have had the same or similar problems.

Just get it going and bring it to the closest dealer have them check it out. You don’t have to go back to the original dealer.

I have a very similar problem. But mine is because of a loose battery or wire leading to the battery. Depending on how hard my door is closed all power to the vehicle is shut off before the engine starts. So I either have to slam the door hard or worst case hit the battery in my trunk to get power again. I am gonna have to take it into the dealer to see what is up on my next day off.

+1.

My brother found the problem with my battery draining/not charging (he thinks). There were several loose connections in and around the front fuse box and in the trunk. It is right in the area where the positive connection is under the hood. I wasn't there when he checked it and if I understand him right, this is where the problem most likely is. He tightened the connections, put the car on a charger and so far, so good. Not impressed with this. As minor as it seems, to pay this much for a car and have this problem right away, well, shouldn't happen.

Bring it to your closest Hyundai dealer. They can warranty the battery.
