  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any way to tighten the sloppy steering?

the steering on the dh is much more responsive than mercedes thats for sure. it was tuned to be precise and easy.

the 5.0 steering is about 25 pct heavier

I had two different GS350's, one a RWD F sport and the other a AWD luxury. I find the steering on the GS is in fact not more accurate or firm, but the ratio is quite a bit quicker. You notice it in tight turns as you have to turn the wheel less than the genesis. But in most driving I prefer the genesis steering. The genesis will not handle quite as well as the GS, but in most driving it is more comfortable so I consider the ride and handling a wash between the two.

I liked my past Lexus GS but I would definitely pick the Genesis. You get a lot more features and even the safety is better, for example I don't think AEB is available on the GS (or at least is was not in 2013). The AWD GS still has a 6 speed trans vs. the 8 speed on the Genesis. Also the AWD GS has an odd hump in the floor on the driver's side that bugged me as my right leg would brush up against it. Warranty is long on the Genesis as well.

I think Lexus customer service and a slight edge in sport handling are the only GS advantages. BTW I am something of a Lexus GS fan, I've had 5 of them going all the way back to a 2001 GS300.

Just to update I took delivery of my car earlier in the week and have been driving it for a few days. I'm relieved and elated that in sport mode it handles very "tightly", I feel that every nuance I make with the wheel translates directly to the wheels. The sport mode really tightens it up. I find the regular/eco modes to still be sloppy and I never use them, it's not that they are bad it's just that I'm now spoiled by sport mode.

I'm definitely happy with my purchase. Thinking back on it the Lexus had quite a few negatives:

Bit more cramped on the inside
Trunk was tiny
blind spot assist had no audible alert
The infotainment system was horrible, you had to use this weird mouse like thing that was not very accurate to drive a cursor on screen, yeah can you say accident? It was fairly unintuitive also when I played around with it.
Probably the strongest decider for me was I couldn't get over how much it looked like a Camry/Avalon with a slapped on aftermarket grille and ground effects. For that kind of money I want something unique and luxury looking.

the dh is much more precise than the 2011 e350 benz and the 2006 to 2012 lexus gs350. this is from experience.

the dh is actually a very precise tight car.

Congrats. I had enjoyed my past Lexus GS and was worried when I went to the Genesis I would miss my old cars. But I have found the Gensis is truly better in many ways and has more features and better technology. I think it looks better as well, a more cohesive design. I think you made the right call between the two.

not only that, the dh is a truly large full size sedan. at about the same mpg. so u get a large sedan with the mpg of a midsize sedan.

the dh is not a stretched out midsize, it truly is a big car. the differences are obvious.

Confused: V6s have VDC?

Well I'm now realizing that gas mileage suffers with the sport mode. I know it's obvious, but it's more drastic than I thought. I don't have a heavy foot (mostly, lol) and do mostly highway driving but am finding I'm about 16.5 mpg average, I was hoping to be a bit higher maybe like 18 or 19 in sport mode.

I refuse to drive in any other mode though, sport mode is just too much fun. I wish you could adjust the steering/suspension independent of the transmission shifting, that would resolve the issue.

Oh well, it's only a couple more bucks at the pump I suppose. I know it's ok with regular, but are you guys putting in premium fuel to get a bit more power out of it?

I've been sticking to regular. No noticeable difference using premium and I typically don't mash the pedal. Shell premium was close to 80 cents more than regular this weekend. Typically see 40 cent difference which is too wide a gap to justify switching.

sport mode is fun, so much more livlier
