In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hyundai Equus Roll Call!

Hello all I just bought my 2011 Equus Signature about 4 weeks ago. I use it for driving to my full time job, plus my part time gig as an Uber/Lyft driver.

I'm loving the car and so are my customers!

Picked a 2016 Ultimate today, traded in my 2011 Genesis 4.6.
Caspian black with Ivory interior, sweet ride!
I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Hello everybody! It's been a while since i've been on here. I was trying to figure out with the new Genesis lineup and everything going on. Where do we go to get our cars serviced? Any info would be greatly appreciated to the community.

Hi all, just bought a 2011 Equus signature last week In black pearl ,what a joy to drive .looking forward to being part of the discussions and learning about these cars

Traded in our 2009 Genesis V8 for a 2016 Equus Signature. We normally keep our cars until they become unreliable, which wasn't the case with the Genesis. I found out that the V8 was no longer available in the 2016 Genesis, despite the information in the sales brochure, and would not be available in the upcoming G80. Also, the V8 would most likely be optional in the G90. So we traded in the Genesis with only 95K miles on it. This makes the Equus our 5th Hyundai product.

I also have a 2009 Genesis 4.6 with Tech Package (70,000 miles) and I'm looking to replace it with a 2016 Equus Signature. Will give the Genesis to my son so no trade in for me. What colors did you get, interior and exterior and what sort of price were you able to negotiate.

Thanks.

Also, some initial impressions, & comparisons to the 2009 4.6 Genesis, would be great.

Thanks again.

We got a Parisian Gray with black interior. It was the last Equus at our local dealer and we got it got for around $56K plus tax etc. I've already replaced the rear deck lid's "lazy H" badge with an Equus badge purchased on eBay.

Compared to the '09 Genesis the car rides softer and feels less sporting. Some of that is good since I always thought the '09 Genesis suspension had some faults where it failed to deliver expected ride quality. Bump stop and other tweaks that I guess were improved in newer Genesis cars. Not that the early Genesis was awful, just not as well controlled as European and Japanese competitors.

Of course, the Equus has more electronic bells and whistles that all newer cars seem to have compared to older versions. The GPS isn't stuck with 2010 maps which is one good thing. Hyundai deserves a kick in the butt for not supporting the early Genesis GPS with updates. That is one thing we hated about the Genny - driving in never-never land on so many roads that it didn't know existed. Using a Garmin or cell phone map program when there's a built-in GPS sucked!

I'm taking the Equus on it's first trip soon and will have more data on how I like it after that trip. Fuel economy seems to be much less than the old Genesis, but that might improve with a few miles on the engine.

We really loved our Genesis as it was trouble free for 98K miles, but I wanted one more V8 engine before we will all be required to drive 2 cyl eco-cars due to gov't fuel economy standards. Found out that no more V8 Genesis/G80's in future years and that the G90 will only have an optional V8 and no doubt with much increased pricing. Turbo engines are fine if you want to hear engine scream and are 19 years old, but low RPM with lots of torque from the V8 allowed the Genesis to climb mountains without effort.

Just picked up black/black 2014 Signature with 44K miles for $32K, which is unreal. I drove my 2006 Acura RL into the ground, so I'm totally stoked about my new ride. I had a couple things to mention to see if anyone else had any input on. Feel free to throw into your two cents...

1. The previous owner left the Blizzaks on the back. He's dropping off the other tires to be changed on Monday, which sucks because I have to take a 250 mile trip tomorrow. I guess it sort of makes sense to only put them on the back of a RWD car, but no one recommends it because they want to sell 4 tires instead of 2, but why take a chance?

2. Speaking of tires, is everyone just replacing them with the OEM Continentals for the most part? I know with my Acura, the owners group board I'd always go on turned me on to Toyo Versado's, which were way better and cheaper than the OEM's, but they don't make them big enough for the Equus.

3. Can't roll the windows down with the key fob? That's pretty brutal. I sent the place that make the module for Vettes that plugs into the ODB, but I'm not getting my hopes up....

4. I think the factory rims are freaking gorgeous....

5. I tried to sign up for Blue Link, but it said I had to go to the dealer to finish. I can't believe there's no android app, but remote start from my pc at home and work is still going to be nice...

6. I hope my senile brain remembers it has a heated steering wheel when it gets cold out...

7. I wish the cooled/heated seats would stay at the same setting it was on when you turned the car off. That would be one of the points of remote start...

8. I like Sport mode on the expressways, and Normal otherwise...

9. I surprisingly made it 3 days before the idea of how great having sex in the back seat in "relax" mode would be. I better up my testosterone dosage...

10. I was actually worried I had forgotten how to read an analog clock, but it came back pretty fast...

11. I need to try it again tonight, but I don't think the Adaptive Front Lights are working. It should be easy to tell by turning the wheel in the garage, right?

12. I like that the front bumper is high enough to clear parking blocks, I'm notorious for nailing them in the RL...

13. I didn't really get the point of Auto Hold, until I tried it and it's fantastic, especially in drive throughs. I haven't been in any bad traffic with it yet, but I imagine it's just as nice. I never had a car with the advanced cruise, so that will be fun to learn, too...

14. The lane departure warning system confirms the fact I'm a poor driver....

How do you post pictures

There are a couple of options:

1. You can attach pictures to your post

2. You can upload pictures to your album and link to it

3. Use a free picture hosting site and link directly to the image

Hello,

Not sure if I posted here already, but I was in Equustalk forum which got shut down. I traded in my Sonata for this big beast. Definitely the best side of Hyundai I've experienced. It's a smooth car. Bought used; 2013 Black Ultimate, 50,000 (just came out of a lease) immaculate inside and out. Extended warranty, $0 deductible, $27,600. Tbh, I think it was a steal. On here through mobile, as soon as I figure out how to upload some pictures you be seeing what. I've done so far, and still looking for other mods!

I just picked up another 2014 Sig model. 25K miles for $32,000.
Black on black, tinted windows & new tires.

My first 2014 Equus now has 173,000 miles :)

If I may ask, how has your 2014 Equus performed with that impressive number of miles? I too own a 2014 Equus (Ultimate)...although I only have 21K miles on mine. As you can tell, I don't drive it very often and am curious how well these cars hold up.

Thanks!

I own a 2014 Equus Ultimate that I purchased in late 2013...I will share a couple of things that I learned over the years if you don't mind.

11. I need to try it again tonight, but I don't think the Adaptive Front Lights are working. It should be easy to tell by turning the wheel in the garage, right?

Answer...when you initially start your Equus, the headlights will go through an auto-adjustment function that tests the height, adjustment, and adaptive function by swinging side to side and up and down...that is a very good way to determine if the function is operating properly. Other than that, driving around a curve on a extremely dark road you will see your headlights follow the road versus shining off-road into the trees.

12. I like that the front bumper is high enough to clear parking blocks, I'm notorious for nailing them in the RL...

Answer...I would caution you on this one...I am not totally sure about the Signature...but, on the Ultimate you are able to adjust the ride height of the vehicle...when parking, one must be careful not to park above the parking block...on vehicle start-up, my Equus actually dropped in height and caused the front fascia to come undone once...lesson learned!

I've had a strange slow speed transmission stutter. Started doing it about 15K miles into ownership.
Took it many times to the dealer to diagnose/fix & they could never replicate the issue. I don't have time or patience for dealership repairs....they've always taken way too long at Hyundai.

Other than the tranny stutter, all is good.
Nothing else mechanical (no fault of the vehicle) has been repaired or replaced.

I did have to replace a front air strut (drivers error)

Interior trim occasionally squeaks, dashboard has an area in the center which has curled upwards (maybe due to sitting in the sun every day)

Interior drivers door handle area is worn/scratched as is the face of the glove box.

Side sills get chipped/scratched from shoes, while getting in and out of the vehicle.

Front valance is very low. Parking stall curbs are not friends of the Equus.

Wheels are very easy to curb/rash, although they are cool looking wheels.

I'm very happy with the vehicles, they're great value for money.

I've now owned five Equus. Two 2014's, two 2015's (one of which was totalled) and a 2016 model.

Purchased one new and the rest were 1000-25,000 mile used vehicles.

P.S your profile signature says " 4.6 V8 " ....it's a 5.0 V8 ;)
