  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1st of all...let's get this straight!!!!!
THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION...A ONE MAN'S OPINION.

Wow...I got the car Friday April 3rd. I'll keep this short.

I've put 1200KM already on it.
My last 4 cars were 3 Toyota Camry's and the Genesis replaced a 2006 Azera Limited edition.

1st of all...what a difference in ride...the suspension is a major difference being much stiffer than the Azera is.
The handling in turns is quick and effortless...it takes the curves with ease.
This car handles really well...better than I thought!
Yes it's stiff but it's a good stiff!
To me it just feels right...not too stiff and certainly nowhere near floaty.
The brakes on the V8 are unreal. This car can really stop fast and I'm hardly pressing the brakes. The bigger brakes make a big difference.
If I have to find something wrong...to me it's the tires, to me they are a little noisy.

I absolutely love the way the Genesis handles. This was my biggest concern after reading "EVERY" day the threads here about suspension problems!
Boy NO problems with my car! Handles beautifully. It's been a week now and I have driven through all kinds of roads.
One thing's for sure...on the highway this car is a dream! Quiet, smooth and very quiet!
BTW I've been working on the road for almost 25 years now...so I sort have a little experience in driving.

BTW prior to buying the car I had tested both the V6 and the V8 for about an hour each with my wife riding with me.
I had preferred the V8...hence the reason why I went with the V8.

The fit'n'finish is beautiful and top notch! I have the White with all black interior.
Everything feels just right for me!
The tech package is great. My only complaint is it's a little slow...especially scrolling through MP3's.
The Bluetooth sounds GREAT!

The Lexicon sound system sounds GREAT! BUT ONLY with the right source.
Please remember this is ONLY MY OPINION.
I am a music fanatic and have sensitive ears. I sleep with earplugs cause I hear everything! It's not about volume...it's about sound quality/reproduction.

- FM radio, here in Montreal,Quebec, is absolutely terrible.
Thank God I never listen to it.
- XM radio is a little better but not much (I'm so disappointed in XM radio) I had never heard it before! Alot of their music is way too compressed!
- MP3's (ripped with EAC and Lame with a "-V 2 --vbr-new" command line) sounds very good
- DVD-A's is by far the best way to let this system fly. The sound is fantastic! BUT
For me it needs the deeper BASS...The low bass (25HZ to 50HZ) is not very good and this system is no exception for me and I will add my Sub with an amp for the low bass signal to come out! This will make a MAJOR difference!
There's no way I'm not adding a sub. (Once again this is JUST FOR ME - My ears) This is personal preference.

I'm going to add my sub this summer in the tire well like I did with my Azera.

At the end of the day...I'm an extremely proud/happy new owner of the Genesis.
I'm very happy with this purchase.

I'd like to thank everyone who has written about there experience with this car and am very glad I found this place.

Sincerest regards,

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new ride. For what it's worth, I agree with your observations.

so what about the power of the V-8??? and the shifting of the transmission? come on man details

Question regarding the sub. Would it be possible just to replace the stock sub with one of equal size and wire an external amp to it?

I've been wondering this as well. I haven't said anything for fear of being singled out as argumentive but this seems like this group might be hearing what I have.

I don't own a Genesis yet but expect to in a few months. I have taken four test drives so far, most with the V8/tech package which includes the more high-end lexicon system. Compared to my 2003 Honda Accord this system sounded anemic on the low end. I am not someone that expects to have a lot of bass either. The current settings in my Honda have the bass set at -3. I've put the Genesis/Lexicon system on +10 and still the bass doesn't seem equally distributed when compared to the mids and highs. The faders were set to the middle of the car and I tried numerous different sound options.

Does this make sense to anyone? I've never felt the need to add a sub to any vehicle but I do expect to be able to get the full range balanced. I had such high expectations for this system in the Genesis. My hope is that either something wasn't set right in the Genesiss I drove or perhaps something was broken but after witnessing it more than once I'm a little concerned.

First- we can tell in your tone, you're not argumentative :). Good question. At first glance, if you can fit it and the input to the amp is the same impedance as the existing speaker, you should be good to go. My favorite is the member that removed the spare tire (not on a Genesis as I recall) and mounted the sub there! The cavity of the spare tire just rocks the car he says.

Thanks Genesis. I wouldn't want to take over this thread so I think I'll make a seperate post regarding some other thoughts around the Lexicon sound system.
