For those of you who had the hanook's swapped out with the michelin's what do you think after putting some miles on the car? I need to get them changed but am not sure about the michelin's due to some of the reviews on this forum.

Your not gaining anything from the michelins maybe better wet performance and of course new rubber. Your loosing ride quality the hankooks were smoother all around you feel the difference. I'm replacing mines after a few thousand miles with some ultra high performance tires.

mxm4s are quieter than the hankooks, but don't ride quite as well. not sure about traction as didn't have an opportunity to drive the hankooks in snow. suspect the mxm4s probably will last a bit longer...ie more tread life.

What do you mean by ride better? I find the handling with the Michelins a little less crisp (though minor), but overall I'd say the ride comfort is actually a little better (less pronounced thumps over expansion joints, etc.,). Overall, I don't really see a huge difference so far (less than 500 miles on the 2016).

After having driven in snow a few times (HTRAC) with the Michelin's, I'm not impressed and wouldn't recommend them if you're in the snow belt. I never had the Hankooks so I don't have anything to compare the Michelin's to. At this point, I will likely make an early upgrade next fall to the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06's that others have mentioned, although I am open to other suggestions.

The Tire Rack ratings seem to confirm by experience with the Michelin's in snow:

to each his own. my impression after driving away from the dealership post tire swap on familiar roads was that the michelins produced a busier but quieter ride than the hankooks. beware, individual results may vary! :D and YES the tires were properly inflated!!

I'm leaning towards Pirelli's P Zero all season Plus.

I had the changeover completed at 1800 miles. My biggest gripe with the factory tires was flat spots from sitting overnight. The Michelins do the same thing so I am a firm believer that its not the tires its the car. I have purchased many sets of Michelins for past cars and never once had flat spot issues. I will say, that once the car is warmed up, the ride is pretty decent. I'm going in next week for my 7500 mile service that includes a tire rotation so it will be interesting to see if the problem continues.

so it sounds like i should just let hyundai replace with michelins if I don't want to have to spend any extra money...no one seems to have any major complaints about them. thanks for the replies

As I’ve said before (quite frequently) while the Michelins are not the best all weather tires certainly not better than the DWS or DWS06 they are better in snow then the Hankooks. This I know firsthand. So if you want one of the top rated tires like the DWS06 you’ll pay more. If you want a better snow tire then the Hankooks with no investment the Michelins are the way to go.

I was expecting a bit more when my Hankook's were swapped for Michelin's. I didn't notice much difference, but we don't have much in the way of snow here. I did notice that these are the very first Michelin's I've ever owned (and I've had plenty) that flat spot badly after sitting in the garage overnight. It takes about 5 miles of driving for the for the tires to "round" themselves back out. Very surprising to me.

No all season tire is really "good" in snow compared to dedicated winter tires. They are all marginal in my experience - depending on how you drive and how bad your winters are, all seasons are really not a good choice.

I primarily drive on flat, straight roads during the winter months here in Ohio. Mostly freeway for that matter. Summer isn't much different in terms of the types of roads. Flat and straight.

The fact I am in the city and the winter's aren't terribly bad here, I don't feel I a need for dedicated winter tires and don't really care to swap between winter and summers twice a year.

While the Michelin's aren't bad in the snow, they aren't great either.

Really what I’m saying is the Hankooks are so bad in snow (even light snow) that “not great” is a big improvement. I’ve had the Michelins on now for about 5 months and haven’t noticed any flat spotting. Though I am obviously in the minority I am satisfied with the overall performance of the tires.

I had the Hankooks for about a year. No traction on icy snow. During one storm I let off the gas a block away from my turn, which would normally be sufficient for other cars I have had. The car just kept running at the same speed. Breaking was no good. While I have not had the conditions repeat this year I have driven the Michellins twice in snowy weather. They were satisfactory. Indeed, there were lots of cars parked on the side of River Road and I was able to get decent traction and braking on an icy pavement. I would say the Hankooks were somewhat better dry pavement tires for handling.

I did not find that - had lots of snow last winter and the Hankooks were OK (not great) in snow. Where I found them poor was on packed snow or ice.

I have less than 500 miles on the 2016 with the Michelins and I have not noticed any significant flat spotting - even this past weekend when it hit 1 F over night. There might be very slight flat spotting but it is definitely much less noticeable than the Hankooks - though I never found the Hankooks to be a problem as it worked itself out quite quickly as you drove.

I agree with that experience.

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s and they are definitely better than the hankooks. One thing that Discount Tire found during the tire swap was that one of my rear wheels was out of round. My Genesis is currently at the dealership for that problem. In addition, there was a rattle in the left rear door caused by the door handle. They are replacing the door handle (unfortunately, it has to be painted). They have not been able to resolve the problem of SiriusXM forgetting the channel it was tuned to and going back to the preview channel a couple times per month. I am supposed to get the car back on Friday. The dealer gave me an Enterprise Altima loaner.

Lobsenza, you may have mentioned this in an earlier post but did you get your A/S 3a through your Hyundai dealer or from a tire shop? I am awaiting word from my dealer as to whether they'll let me have an upgrade Michelin and pay for the difference.
