  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What aftermarket parts are out there for the 2015+ Sedans

When you live in a town with only 434,353 people (https://www.google.com/search?q=omaha+population&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8) vs living in a city of 18.55 MILLION (https://www.google.com/search?q=sou...-8&oe=utf-8#safe=off&q=los+angeles+population), you're really not going to find a need for customizing your car since there are probably <50 cars on the road at one time. I especially doubt there is a large car culture there, with a much less demand and understanding of customizing.

There is probably only a handful of BMW, Mercedes, and Audis there as well so they uphold their reputation for being "special" and are not to be touched because of their "superior design", but around here they are a dime a dozen and unfortunately, despite what you believe, a huge number of them are customized and I assure you, are not "base model".

After all, this is Southern California.

No, I do not live in Omaha, NE. And I didn't see a single new luxury car mentioned in either article. So what was the point of linking them? I didn't say anything about modding in general. I was making a very specific observation. Since Hyundai wants to be compared to the competitors I listed previously, I drew a comparison of some of the owners. Be honest, how many new A6's, 550's, or E400's do you see lowered to the ground? And why don't you see that? Because owners of those expensive luxury cars find that kind of stuff trashy.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about or you live in an area where these cars are not common. As I stated previously, there are entire communities of enthusiasts, tuners, and culture surrounding modifying these cars. I will be honest, I see modified luxury cars nearly every day. I can assure you their owners afford both the cars and subsequent modifications with no issue. You linked the modification of these cars to people that could not afford them new did you not? So by natural inference one would assume your view is that individuals that can afford the aforementioned cars new would not modify them. So is it a function of the type of car or their financial situation? Please enlighten me.

Or you could go visit Southern California, Las Vegas, New York, or Miami and see a plethora of the cars you claim are so rare.

At least it's entertaining

Do you have enough air under your rock? I'm concerned that you may be suffering from oxygen starvation.

Remember it's an unmodified rock because non stock rocks lack class.

Really...who polishes a stone? I've been collecting rocks from :mylocalarea: and literally none of the diamonds and rubies ever see polish. It's just tacky to make them look different from how they came out of the ground.

bigdaveinomaha but that isn't really in Omaha has no time for such things.

I really am lost how he could be so out of touch with such a giant market and culture in the automotive world.

I don't doubt there is a large market for mods, but mods such as dropping your supposed luxury car to the ground guaranteeing it rides worse than it did before? Why stop there? How about some neon lights for underneath the car? Or camber the shit out of it? Show e'rybody how you roll. I bet Ja Rule would let you in the race with a fly car like that.

Wtf are you talking about? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but you're taking it a bit far. Just because someone wants to eliminate wheel gap, does not mean they want to stick neon lights under as well. Some owners want their cars to look "aggressive" and lowering it, eliminating wheel gap, is a step towards that direction. I don't think that's trashy. What's trashy is a Honda Civic with a fart cannon exhaust and "bench" style spoiler in bright green. You sound like a hater, or a troll.

I am going to post this link once.

Now you are changing topic completely. First you state that there are not a significant number of modified luxury cars because people that purchase them new would not modify them in such a way because it lacks taste. You went on to say that the only way these cars get modified in such a way is from ancillary owners that could not have afforded to purchase the car new.

Are you now conceding that there is in fact a large market for these cars but that the parts diminish the performance of the car and the owners of said cars are all ricers?

Have you ever driven a car with properly dialed in coilovers?
Have you ever driven a car on a quality air suspension setup?

You stated objectively there was not a large market for luxury car modifications - you are obviously wrong because you have yet to address any of the other points I made regarding the vast networks of communities, events, and tuners for these vehicles. We'll consider you lack of objective evidence to the contrary and your admission above regarding the "large market" to be a concession on this front.

Your only option now is a subjective argument of which there is not point arguing. If you think a modified car looks stupid that's fine - its not yours so who cares. I doubt the owner cares much about what you think anyway considering you just found out about this luxury car scene.

here is you ascerting that we don't see a lot of NEW luxury cars being modded..

I highly doubt you see a lot of NEW German vehicles modded. Old ones, yes, because they are picked up and modded by those that cannot afford them new.

here is you then saying you are sure there is a large market for such cars and modifications....

I don't doubt there is a large market for mods

So which is it....... I am assuming the modifications and the cars are to be unified as the subject because there would be no point in the entire discussion if we referred to them independently.

The two statements are not contradictory. The first statement was about new German luxury cars. The second statement was about the mod market in general.

As a Genesis owner, I find it embarrassing when people mod the car in the manner the original poster depicted. I can accept that you don't like my opinion. I care about as much as you care about my opinion. All of my statements can be summed up by saying "I think you made the car look trashy with the mods". Yeah, you may not agree with me, but this was posted in a public forum and we are subject to opinions of those that do not agree with us. Tough. Thanks for the entertainment though!

Big Dave. For the record, the original poster's Genesis sits too low for my taste. I do agree with reducing wheel gap but I'd have gone a couple inches higher. That being said, I don't like eggplant but I don't criticize somebody who does.

Otherwise... We're all welcome to share our opinions but I ask that we do not throw around personal insults regarding personal preferences. We each have a vision as to what will bring us happiness and that's a very individualistic thing...

I think everyone missed the fact the Op's car is bagged. That means there's 3 settings: normal, cruising, and slammed. All his pictures posted look like the slammed variety so of course it doesn't look like that all the time. You usually only lay frame when you're parked. So despite what his (or her) pictures show, it doesn't really always sit like that.

However he likes it is perfectly fine with me... Not that my opinion really matters.

Both statements were generalizations and are completely contradictory. Your statements are wrought with logic fallacies and were absolutely ignorant. I took as much enjoyment out of making you look foolish as you did making fun of the OP. There is a reason you got the feedback you did from members that share your opinion on the subjective matter of how a car looks after being modified. You clearly have little to no experience in the aftermarket world.

Unfortunately many like yourself enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.

Fortunately, there are far more patient, thoughtful and reasonable individuals inhabiting this site than self appointed posting police who feel it's their job to critique each and every topic they don't agree with.

Hey Scott, what do you do for a living? You are one articulate mofo.

Except you just posted here disagreeing with me in a snide and condescending way. I guess we can lump you into the group we are unfortunate to have.

My response mimicked the ignorance of the comment I disagreed with. I then backed up my response with facts and examples.

Because you seem to think I enjoy acting as "posting police" on every topic I disagree with I would be curious for you to backup your claim with evidence that I frequently "police" the site and establish that this is a motif with my posts instead of the isolated or at best occasional incident I believe it to be.
