Daytime Running Lights (DRL)

I can't seem to make mine go on. My stalk is set at DRL>OFF.
Must I turn them on somehow? When I turn on the parking lights with motor stopped, they come on, but do not turn back off by themselves.
I would think there's a setting to have them stay on all the time?

You are likely confusing your parking lights with your DRL lights. Go sit in front of a glass storefront building and experiment with each of your stalk settings. Takes less than 60 seconds to figure it all out when you can see everything in a mirror.

And they don't turn on when you first start the car - they come when you put the car in gear...

...BTW - having the stalk in the DRL OFF position obviously would mean that the DRL's are off!

Good advice about checking in a storefront window. Normally the AUTO position is best, as you don't have to remember to turn headlights on or off as lighting conditions change. DRLs enhance safety, that why the insurance companies give a discount for cars that have them. Never understood why anyone would disable them. Oh, and always check your light stalk after a valet has driven your car. They invariably switch to a wrong setting instead of leaving on AUTO.

Stupid question, is there any downside to leaving all the lights on all the time?? I started sometimes doing this because they shut off automatically and I hate having my headlights turn on for 10 seconds every time I go under a bridge or park in my garage when set to Auto.

I was surprised to learn the headlamps, when set to Auto, do not activate when the windshield wipers are on. My last two cars did that. Since it's a law (wipers on, lights on) in some states, I would think it would be a good feature to have.

This would be a great feature to have, my two previous cars did this as well. Huge oversight on Hyundai's part, and should be solvable with a software update.
