Is there a coating on the NAV screen?

I noticed a few scratches on the screen when I was detailing the interior. I started to rub the scratches with my finger to see how deep it was and noticed the scratches got worse. Is there or was there some kind of antiglare coating on it? The scratches bugged me so I scrubbed most of it off aside from the hard to get at areas near the edges... lol

Yes, it is coated. Rubbing it or spaying glass cleaner on it will ruin it. The manual details how to care for it.

I had a car detail shop scratch off part of mine... and now those scratches are pissing me off. What did you do/use to get the rest of the coating off? I want to remove it and then put an aftermarket film on it like what you can buy for phones.

I already tried pricing a replacement screen only - and of course Hyundai says it's not available as just the screen. I need the entire head unit - which is $3k.

I just went at it with Stoner's and paper towels... In for a penny, in for a pound... lol... some of it already came off, may as well take the rest of it off. Funny thing is, I probably wouldn't have noticed the scratches in the first place if I wasn't detailing the interior...

I'm going to try to get the rest of it off the edges with an eraser or something. Once it's off, I'm throwing a matte screen protector on it.

I spent the afternoon looking for the screen cleaning instructions in the Owners Manual and in the DIS manual, but never did find the cleaning instructions.

Most just recommend a microfiber cloth lightly used on the screen to remove fingerprints, etc. There are also wipes made for electronic screens, but I tended to avoid them. Avoid windshield cleaning sprays and anything with alcohol.

OK. I know I'm gettin' old and my eyesight isn't what it used to be, so I thought I must have just missed it.

My 2011 MKZ came with a small microfiber cloth just for the Nav display. I should have kept it, but I've got some other small microfiber cloths around. The Nav display on the G2 doesn't collect fingerprints nearly as bad as the MKZ did. It had a glossier finish to it than the G2 has.

If you have the Ultimate w/ the DIS system, you almost never need to touch it.

That's very true. I rarely use the touch screen, but sometimes my mind slows down and it's just quicker to touch the screen.

As Ksoze noted, I keep a microfiber cloth in the console and use it to clean the screen.
