  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It was fine yesterday, but this morning there is no audio output from the high-grade Lexicon system when playing media from the in-dash DVD-changer. All other sources work fine. DVD is operating normally, video playback is flawless. Looks like something's wrong with the amp, but I'll leave the diagnosis to the professionals... Made appointment with the dealer for the first time for next week. They'll put me in a loaner (can't wait) until they figure out what's wrong.

I have logged onto hmaservice.com, but I saw no new TSBs concerning this issue, so I think this is an isolated problem, unless some of you have had similar incidents out there. I have "rebooted" the car a few times, but the problem did not go away.

I guess I'll see how they treat their high-rollers from a service experience standpoint...:D

So as I got back into the car after work, the DVD audio started working again as if nothing had happened. After about 15 minutes it dropped out again for about 10 seconds and then resumed. It'll be interesting convincing the tech of what's going on unless it happens to hit right there and then.

I've found a TSB concerning the mid-range Lexicon amp (attached). It seems mine now also displaying the same behavior. We'll see what happens next week.

This is a long shot, but many audio/video DVDs have a DTS stream. Dropouts are no unusual for DTS streams as they are really demanding of the decoders. Is it possible that your system is somehow set to play the DTS streams? If so, try Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 or Dolby Digital. I know this is a long shot, but I have seen this with home equipment before.

That's a good point, but in my case this isn't what's wrong. I have tried not only movies (with 5.1 settings), but DVD-A discs, all of which used to play flawlessly before. It's working now so it seems to be something intermittent. At the very least I'm going to log the issue with them and the next time it fails, I'll just drive over to the dealer and demonstrate the problem. Thanks again, for the suggestion.
