  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

(#easy) You want a LED DRL on your US Genesis? Read on.

My solution is what you want..the hardest part is getting the headlights out of the car to switch the wires..you must remove the front bumper cover..sounds hard but in reality just takes a little time..pretty easy job overall...once the brown wire is switched to the empty terminal space, the parking lights are bright, not dim.

Thanks. Anyone else successfully done this?

Nice. Would you mind using the pics above clarifying which wire goes where on the Headlight assembly. I realize the pics above are not specifically what you were accomplishing.

What about moving the wire that controls the DRL's and placing it in the empty slot?

On the 2015 USA Genesis, the wire that controls the DRL's also controls the turn signals - since the 2015 uses the same amber bulb for turn and DRL - so I don't think that would work as you'd have no blinkers (or just blinking DRL's when turning).

On the first picture that shows the brown and white wires circled, I removed the brown wire and moved it to the empty slot next to it..so now I have a brown wire on the far left, the middle empty, and the white remains on the right.

Thanks. Anyone document front bumper removal process?

hope this helps

A word of caution here for those removing these bumper fascades/covers and not sure how applicable this is to the Genesis model, but the clips that hold this fascade/cover on the later model Sonatas were very prone to being broken so my recommendation is to be VERY, VERY CAREFUL and not force anything if you decide to remove them.

Mission accomplished. 2016 LED light intensity on a 2015 (in parking light mode shown). Directions above work well - one wire change on each light assembly. Had a co-worker do the bumper removal in his well-equipped garage - said it was straightforward and easy, but lots of clips, etc. to remove.

Thanks again to Dthomas1 for the pioneering work.

nice....so when in drl mode you get the leds right? not in parking light mode? and if so what is your turn signals...the leds themselves?

No, still amber DRL's. The LED's operate as before in PL mode, only brighter. Everything else is the same. The inability to have that LED intensity change in DRL mode is addressed earlier in this thread.

Congrats - nice workaround to get the brighter DRL's you've wanted (even if you have to run in PL mode and manually switch headlights on). It really does change the look/"attitude" of the car versus the amber incandescent DRL's.

Curious if this mod keeps the LED Brows bright in Headlight mode too (as they dim back down versus DRL mode when headlights are on with my 2016)?

They probably do stay on bright when headlights are ...does look good though

I am pretty certain that the headlights still come on at night and even shut off automatically so really you can leave it in Parking mode 24/7.

No I'm pretty sure they don't...only in auto mode will your headlights come in automatically...if you are in parking light mode then only those leds come on and your interior lighting dims.

Nice! There's no reason this shouldn't also work on a 3.8 I'm assuming? No trouble getting the brown wire out and back into the empty slot?

3.8 should be the same. No, wire comes out easily.
