Price Paid For 2015 Genesis

Wrt price, I agree with you. I was trying to trade up from my 2015 v8 Genesis base to an ultimate, and the trade in offer was 30k for a single owner car, clean like new, and 17k miles. Also, what does the car fax say?

Have you considered other lower mileage CPO cars? I have seen 2015 v8s with 1k miles, hyundai Corp title for events, sold at auction, for 38k. Not too many, but a few of these are out their. I know of one in san Diego.
Thanks

Hi, thanks for getting back and hopefully you catch my response.

Carfax says two owners, first is corporate fleet 1y1mo for 10,309 miles. 2nd owner is 5 months for about 12k miles on top (22,300 or so total). only one oil/filter change but that's in line with 15k mile service (next rotation, oil change at 25k). Went from Cali to New Mexico to Texas. Really, not much info on the carfax..but that's not necessarily bad.

Other CPO cars? Yes, i've considered a 2015 sonata limited 2.0t but i considered it too long and it's gone -_- This is a big step up from that car, but I think it's a very nice car as long as I pay a very nice price.

they've counter-offered 31,500 and a second key. based on a different post http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=14274&page=2 i may need the car re-keyed. will see.

EDIT: I've looked at other CPOs like Honda, Acura, Lexus.. I didn't look too deeply into Audi, BMW or Mercedes because the scheduled maintenance and my (potentially incorrect) perception of their reliability makes me leery of buying one used. Mercedes may offer an unlimited mile CPO warranty but if it's only 1-2 years what does that help me with......I don't drive a ton of miles. We tried an Acura RDX but since only the 2016s have the rear vents and a 2014 base CPO was $27k this seems a better deal to me. I would be ok with a Lexus..wife was initially skeptical but may be interested now. Good thing about Lexus is there are tons on Carmax. bad thing is the CPOs are not cheap from what I see.

For this genesis, I would probably buy a 0 deductible HPP 100k extended warranty.

The 2nd ownership with such a short term concerns me...so, personally, I would step back and keep looking. Best of luck in whatever you decide
Thanks

It does concern me, which is why I'm getting a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) to try rule out things. From what the dealer told me, they traded the genny in for an MDX, which is a completely different style of vehicle and could therefore be a lifestyle choice.

I'm in TX.

I spoke with a service manager at a Hyundai dealership I go to in order to schedule a PPI and he looked up the VIN for me. What he told me has me concerned..it looks like the vehicle has had several repairs for electrical issues (battery replaced, main wiring assembly, control wiring assembly, floor wiring assembly) as well as the clock spring and sunroof (the rattle, i guess).

I don't suppose anyone on this forum traded it in to the dealership I'm visiting? @_@

Maybe everything will work okay, now, after all the replacements. Or maybe it will stop working on the freeway with my family inside of it.

I've seen very few posts regarding trade-in offers, so I thought I'd add my 2 cents.

I've got a 2015 5.0 Ultimate (Casablanca White), so overall a very desired and saught after vehicle for someone in the Genesis hunt. 28,500 miles and great shape other than the d"$* sunroof rattle issue.

My reason for seeking trade-in and/or buy bids: the stupid sunroof rattle and inability to get good service.

The bottom line, I'm getting buy bids of $30-$31k sight unseen from major internet-based dealerships here in the DFW market. Given my mileage I think these numbers are actually pretty good. I paid $35k just 2 months ago, but we've since seen 2017 G80s hit the lot and I think values have come down a bit. I knew I probably over lid by a grand or two, but my Audi S5 trade-in was also at a value that was slightly inflated.

If I end up taking one of the offers, I'd predict it to be on their lot for around $34k. Plenty of <5k V8 Gennies here in DFW for $34-38k, although very few Ultimates.

My Genesis goes to a new dealer tomorrow for one last crack at good service addressing the sunroof issue. If they can't get it right, it's time to cut my losses and move on (and back to a true luxury brand).

Thank you for your input! The 2015 5.0 ultimate has an msrp of about 5k higher than the v6 ultimate. Then again, the 5.0s were the ones I saw get the most discounted. If they're offering 30-31k for the 5.0 ultimate, that means the v6 ultimate would run lower than that.

Does not sound good. I would stay away from this...
Best

Yeah that doesn't sound like a used car I'd want to own. I've already owned one CPO lemon, never again. That's why I bought new this time. Not that you can't have problems with a new car, but there's a lot less headache if something goes wrong and you're covered by lemon-law or the BBB much more broadly on a new vehicle.

I spoke with two different service reps at a hyundai dealership I go to. They were both concerned after seeing the list of repairs, but they had different end results.

Rep A = Probably best to stay away

Rep B = Could be flood damage, but not likely. If the wiring was replaced then that's good, because it's new and may be problem free.

Of course, there's no electrical test they run during a PPI so unless something shows up while they have it then there's no way to be sure. The car still has some factory warranty and I'm strongly considering getting the HPP Platinum which covers essentially everything at 0 deductible and should give me a Genesis loaner if it's ever in the shop. My last car, an 06 Sonata, ended up making good use of the extended warranty.

This brings me to another issue with warranties, however......if you've got a 0 deductible warranty owners and dealerships tend to be like "well, it's covered, so let's try this and that to see if it fixes it" because they get paid and you pay nothing, so why not. So..

1) did this car have real problems that necessitated the work done? It was done in two different states, so it's possible some gremlin popped up/returned

2) is the problem resolved now that the wiring assemblies have been replaced? (were they replaced? Unfortunately, hyundai service reps can just see the date of service, the "code" that shows the dealership but not the name as well as a one-liner saying what was serviced. Doesn't say if it's replaced or looked at or repaired.

bottom line.. i want the car. I want a 2015 genesis.. i like the color inside/outside and I've negotiated the best price on a Genesis so far. The factory warranty and extended warranty should have me safe forever (from expenses and not having a car) but not from inconvenience or potentially poorly timed failures.

the dealership doesn't want to budge from the last price they gave me and won't even rebadge the car for me (has the flying H on the back)...I think i'll just tell them to knock off 1 - 2 thousand to compensate me for needing to get the extended warranty on account of the speakers and other electronics on a 2015 only having 3 year warranty compared to the 5year bumper to bumper.

Pulled the trigger yesterday. Found a 2015 3.8, with HTRAC, with 10,500 miles--$27k. Was concerned since this was not a CPO, but when I compared with new vehicles in the same price range that we were considering, the Genesis still came with more warranty coverage than the new cars and was somewhat cheaper. Checked the VIN at a local Hyundai service department and they said that there was no problem for warranty service.

I did contact two local dealerships (Corona and Ontario, CA) and I have to say that I will never do business with them. I wanted a simple answer about the Hyundai warranties and purchasing a vehicle that wasn't CPO. Both dealerships told me the same thing, none of the Hyundai warranties will be honored if the vehicle wasn't a CPO. Did they not think that I knew what was going on? Complete BS!!!! My experience is that most used car salesmen would sell their own daughters to a prostitution ring if it meant getting a sale. BTW, the CPO 2015, entry level 3.8 with 20K miles, with scratches in the bumber, chips in the paint and cracks in the windshield was $30K and when I asked about those issues, I was told that even though it was a CPO, it was still used. Anyways, so far so good.

Only thing I don't like is the lack of 12 volt outlets for a car that sits 5. On deck will be a change of badges on the trunk and tinted windows in the back. Do wish the car was for me, but I'll get my new truck in a few more years--if momma ain't happy, no body is happy.

got a line on 2015, 3.8 awd ultimate, grey/black int with 15,000 miles. asking price on 2015 is $36k. dealer offering $7k on my 2010 4.6 w/104k miles. He's not doing me any favors on trade-in although its $1,500 better than carfax. im thinking going in with $33k offer based on what I've read here.

I'd offer $32k and work your way up. Car sales are slow right now.

Do you have any tips i can use for the dealer to pay off the balance of the finance?

With further investigation it turns out the $36k 2015 Genesis ultimate is a Hyundai buyback (lemon). Carfax says it was the radio/nav and a starting problem. both problems I have seen on this forum with a fair amount of frustrated owners. I am inclined to walk away since they cant seem to tell me if its been fixed (not preferred) or replaced? My only hesitation is that I can really try to lowball the offer since the warranty is still in place so I have that to fall back on.

Pretty Happy with my purchase this month. 2015 3.8 HTrac Ultimate with 11,000 miles for right at $31,000. interesting to read on here about dealerships selling "buy back" cars. I went to a Hyundai dealership and they had the same car for $33000. i asked for the carfax, but they didnt get it for me right away, we actually started negotiating before they let me know that it was a "buy back". I don't even think my bank will finance a branded title car. they said they would knock $2000 off (getting the price to $31k). I went to a non-Hyundai dealer 10 minutes away, and let them know i found one for $31K (didn't tell them it was a lemon) and they matched it. It had been on their lot for over 115 days apparently. the price on the window was $36k. i think i did pretty good. :) i am really enjoying this car.

One needs to try all different types of maneuvers. Hope it works out.

so im still working the buy back deal. dealer came down to $33k with a new set of tires thrown in. they asked what tires I want...any suggestions?
