  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

best 5.0 r spec year?

Extra 55 hp is noticeable. Suspension is more settled , no rear hop. Much easier to rotate the rear end with throttle mid turn. It was hard to turn in the 09 but after 268k miles it was just starting to get a little rough.

I have a 13 r spec with 75000 miles. Great car and have zero issues

Avoid 2012. I had a 2009 with zero issues. I got a 2012 and had oil consumption problems. I'd say the worst part about Hyundai is there techs and mechanics are idiots/kids who largely are incompetent. I had my wipers fail on me. They replaced everything connected to it and when I picked it up I realized they blew some fuses. When I called back they didn't have time to (look at it) even though I told them they blew a fuse so I just fixed it myself. I've since had other electrical issues which may or may not have been a result of shorting the system. Then my motor blew just under 50000 miles due to about 5 oil consumption tests when they came up for reasons that the test wasn't valid. Each time the engine would get slightly louder.

The dealer that ended up with the car took 3 months to swap the motor. And when I asked them to look at my faulty turn signal switch that turned the hid off sometimes and the door switch they claimed they were fine and didn't want to work on it and threatened me if I didn't pick my car up I'd have to pay for the rental car that they gave me.

When I picked up the car it was much louder then it should have been and also I found they lost my cover over the wheel well in the engine bay. I realized they never attached the seal over the steering shaft and had to fix that.

So while these cars are great. Avoid a 2012 as some have oil consumption problems and cause you to have to deal with the morons that will handle your car under warranty.
