Hello everyone. I've had my eye on the Genesis since 2009. Always been afraid of the brand though. Last week a young girl with a license that was 2 months old pulled out in front of me. My lexus ES330 is now totaled. My 1st inclination was to find a newer ES350 and I began to search. I was on my 2nd Lexus and I knew the brand. Both of my ES's gave me ZERO trouble and were very nice to drive. Then I remembered the Genesis and began to research. I was surprised to find them at the top of most used car lists in the large luxury category. I found a few of them in the Indy area. Then I drove one. Wow. I was shocked. So I narrowed the search down to a base 2010 in black with black interior, 32k miles and a pearl white 2010, loaded with 53k miles. Both were 1 owner cars, accident free, great history. I got the white one as I had the pleasure of meeting the folks that traded it in. Settled on $13k and I sign the papers tomorrow and pick it up when the insurance check comes Monday. I felt good about the purchase.......and then I found this forum.
I was offered a 48 month, 48k mile bumper to bumper warranty that covers the car to 100k miles or 2021 for $2600. Some company that starts with a Z. I declined at the time. The ABS posts have me jittery now. I have had trouble free driving for the past 17 years. Am I in for some trouble with this car? How common is this ABS issue? Is there a warning sign to the issue, some indicator before the pedal hits the floor and my family slides into an intersection? Is the warranty a must? I'm not new to forums so I understand that a lot of folks come when they have problems and not to trumpet the virtues of their cars. I don't know how to post a pic here just yet but here's a link to my car.
