I drive a 2013 Genesis Sedan 3.8 Base in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Having felt the manual folding mirrors so inconvenient, I recently ordered the mirrors (that have the power folding functions) and the drive door window switch (that has the folding button) from Korea (I am a Korean), and DIYed it.
The DIY itself was much easier than I thought, and I am now happy about the fact that I can now easily fold the mirrors just with a button push. But two unexpected problems arose.
(1) Unlike the USA 2013 models, the Canadian base models have the IMS(Integrated Memory System; the memory system for the seat and mirror positions) as standard. But that function no longer works. If I try installing back the original window switch, though, the IMS works just fine. Can this situation be ever possible?
(2) I am a single guy, so I dont have a spouse or anyone else who shares the driver seat. So maybe I can just (reluctantly) give up the IMS function. But the bigger issue is that the DIY has affected the door lock system somehow.
I can no longer unlock/lock the doors with the two remote control fobs (but the trunk button and the alarm button just work fine), but there is certainly a beep sound when pushing the unlock/lock buttons.
With the two black smart key buttons on the front door catches, the driver door is not unlocking/locking. But this method, the other three doors work fine.
So I am unlocking/locking the driver door by turning the conventional keys in the key hole.
Having thought that only the Hyundai dealerships would be able to figure out what the problem is (because of the possible need for reprogramming my smart key remote controls), I booked a service appointment and will be visiting a dealership tomorrow.
I really think they are going to blame me for the DIY, and (if they ARE able to fix the problem) charge me a huge $$$ for the labour.
Before going to the dealership, I think it would be better to know something about the issue by myself, for preventing the rip-off as much as possible.
Whoever here could address the possible reasons for the issue, I will really appreciate your feedback!
