Not sure where I can understand why you would entertain the thought of "going back to Lexus". At least where it comes to loosing money. Wouldn't that just cost considerably more than buying new tires? Especailly when you consider the loss you will take by selling your car. Seems like a new set of tires is the best option if Hyundai will not budge. Have you tried reaching out to corporate Hyundai N.A.? Seems like I can recall others having success with other issues. Worth a shot before doing something drastic. Good luck!
It's not about the money, it's about the service. Yes, I could easily spend $1,000 for a new set of tires, but then, I'd still be left with a vehicle the manufacturer did not stand behind when they should have and honestly, that would irk me every time I got in the vehicle. Why would I want a car that a manufacturer does not properly stand by?
NOW... with that said, I got a call from Hyundai corporate this afternoon. They're sending a factory rep next week to take a look at the vehicle and hopefully work with the dealer at rectifying the issue. This group seems eager to resolve the issue, so I hold out hope that something good will come of it.
would you go back to hyundai if lexus gave you a problem with something?
Given that they consistently rate at the top of nearly every customer satisfaction and quality survey I've ever seen, I doubt there would be a problem they wouldn't be willing to resolve. Fortunately, I've never had an issue that required dealing with Lexus on that level. If they didn't resolve a driveability issue, however, no, I would not reward them with continued or repeat business. Why didn't I just stay with Lexus, you might ask? Wife loved her Sonata and we all liked the Genesis.
I guess that means that your Goodyear dealer does not sell Dunlops?
The Dunlop SP Sport 5000 M OEM Genesis tire is not an entry to mid-level tire, but it is not the best rated tire in that class either ("Ultra High Performance All-Season" according to Tirerack.com).
I could be wrong, but I think all Good Year dealers are Dunlop dealers as well. Mine is anyway... to clarify though, he said that Dunlop are GOOD YEAR's entry to mid-level tire.
I get the sense some of you may be taking my frustration personally. You shouldn't. It's quite clear that the Genesis is working out well for most. It's a nice car (if it weren't, I wouldn't have considered it myself.) I'm glad most of you are happy with it. I'm not. Mine sits in the garage because the roaring noise drives not only myself, but my wife and daughter crazy. $40,000 for my experience thus far - I have every right to be frustrated and I'm quite confident that in my shoes, you would be as well. My intent is merely to share my experience as it develops, not feed the trolls or upset happy owners. There's good and bad with every manufacturer... I can deal with that so long as it's made right.
I'm leaving it with the factory rep and dealer all next week... hopefully it will be "right" by the end of the week.
