  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'll stick with G80 Sport because interior is not copy from bmw/merc/audi.

Eh not to impressed by it.

It's nice to see the return of a leather dash.

MY GUESS FOR THE NEW G80 BECAUSE OF THE G70. this is my understanding while looking at this car. the new g80 sport will cut back a little on the weight. why? because in the pictures i see a button that looks like its to turn off auto stop/start. next im expecting metal on the window controls and on the steering wheel. also if there going the route of gas savings(clearly if they have auto stop/start) im thinking of a new engine. something similar to cadillacs 4 cylinder around 270hp and 300 torque with a 300-500 pound weight reduction seems like a good start. as for the sport model i was thinking of a little power increase but I dont believe that would be necessary because of the weight loss help and for the fact that its still a new engine. I have no idea for the 5.0. it honestly is just useless because of the sport and its not a big enough difference but you still need a better engine for the g80 regular body as a 4 cylinder is not enough. a twin turbo v8 seems to be the best path for the g80 in my opinion. the sport would way less and be more sporty(duh) while the ttv8 in the luxury g80 would be effortless luxury or something idk.

They should of just made a miniature G80..

Not a Korean Infiniti Q50 .... at least from the front....... with release date in 2018.

Very similar headlights - no
Very similar grill - no
Very similar running lights -no
Two wheels in the front - yes but as far as I can see that is where the similarity ends. Just my opinion.

Infiniti would like the Q to look this good, not even close.

Idk why people are comparing the looks of this car to the Q50. The car looks better than the Q50. This car has similarities to the G80 Sport and the New York Concept. Overall the car is a step ahead of the G80 Sport which would perform and handle better. The G80 Sport was never meant to be a sport car but G70 is. Looks too I would take the G70. I think the Genesis G70 would lure younger buyers to the brand.

From afar.....and from the front.. it absolutely looks like an Inifiniti IMO. Most people are'nt looking at angles of a grill that is roughly the same size. Even the headlights.

That Q50 actually looks better on the front ! LOL

I will give the Genesis the side, rear and interior easily though.

Comments on the early mag previews I see several people saying the same.

Even the editorial of some of them like Cars.com ....... " Looks like: A busier Infiniti Q50 up front — but with a clean, not-so-derivative rear "

Car and Driver : " it’s a flowing, athletic-looking thing, more in the mold of Alfa Romeo’s Giulia or Infiniti’s Q50 "

The Stinger looks to me to be a different car than the G70 that is targeted at a different demographic. It is not a Genesis and for some that will count for something now and more and more in the future

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder: Literal meaning - the perception of beauty is subjective. From David Hume's Essays, Moral and Political, 1742, "Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them." For proof of this one only has to look at the Lexus RX350.

The full quote from CarandDriver: "The relative lack of overt boldness in the G70 in no way makes it unattractive; it’s a flowing, athletic-looking thing, more in the mold of Alfa Romeo’s Giulia or Infiniti’s Q50 than the restrained BMW 3-series or Audi A4, its three-quarter views defined by complex contours. It also isn’t really the work of Donckerwolke, Lee, and the Genesis design team as constituted today. Those two came on board only about 18 months ago, well after the G70’s final design had been frozen, and they were able only to tweak the fascias and push the roofline a little lower (adjustments that Fitzgerald says were a big help). Biermann, having joined the company earlier, likely had more effect on the dynamic tuning. The next Genesis product, and the first to be more fully molded by this group, will be the next-gen G80, which is due in 2019"

The entire Toyota Motor Company has gone off the deep end. Have you seen the 2018 Camry? You would think that the Japanese would have learned from the Acura "beak" grille fiasco. The radiation damage from the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan must have been much worse then people realize.

i don't mind the se/xse, but the le/xle grill just looks weird to my eyes!

I like it. I think it looks pretty good. The interior doesn't appear to be the most luxurious place on Earth - but look at the C-Class and 3-Series. This type of car and demographic is more interested in sport than luxury. That being said, the G70 will have luxury features and appointments on par with the industry. I'm sure we're going to see a lot of these on the road once they're available...

I only hope that it doesn't have a rattling sunroof like the 15/16 Genesis (and G80's) do. After having the 2015 replaced and now in the final, "painfully slow" stage of lemon law buy back on the 2016, I'm done with Genesis/Hyundai as a brand/company I'd ever buy another vehicle from.

I'm confident there won't be problems like that on this all-new platform. It was one platform that this happened with - and I don't expect they would allow that to happen with any others. Regarding the lemon law, I think you'd probably feel exactly the same had it been any other brand going through the process with you. Being a forum admin for as long as I have, I see so many complaints about that process. I imagine they don't make it challenging on purpose...

I'm not confident at all - in addition to the rattling sunroof, I had body panel misalignments that had to be fixed on the 2016 replacement car (where is the factory QC???) and a driver seat cushion defect. The quality is just not there - interior plastics are cheap and easily scratched/scuffed as well. In addition, too many small squeaks are groans from the dash on uneven pavement (in both vehicles and in loaners) for a car at this price point.

While they were nice looking cars with a good feature set, there is a reason they are priced significantly lower than Audi/BMW /Mercedes, etc., - they are not in the same league as those vehicles. Having now cross shopped those brands for my next vehicle, the difference is very obvious - from smaller things like the quality of the switchgear to the quality of the materials and, especially, the fit and finish and refinement of the ride and handling - the G80 is a lesser vehicle.

I also found that the Htrac system exhibits dangerous behaviour of killing the throttle if any bump is encountered on acceleration - it made exiting a parking lot with a small driveway lip and crossing the road very dangerous unless you disable traction control and ESC. This does not happen with the other vehicles I've since test driven.

So, good luck with your Genesis cars - you get what you pay for and I, for one, am no longer willing to live with the significant compromise they bring. The dealer experience is marginal at best and definitely second rate compared to the real luxury brands. After all the crap I've been through, I'd rather pay more and not deal with the "baggage".

As many of my friends/colleagues have said as they've seen my Genesis saga unfold: "What did you expect? You bought a Hyundai. It's an expensive Hyundai - but it is still a Hyundai!".
