Hi All,
I posted this already in the Sunroof thread but as I'm sure you can imagine that thread doesn't get a lot of attention anymore. I'm re-posting here because I feel it is different enough from the original thread (this is not about the creaking noise in the sunroof). If I have done wrong, I apologize.
Hello everyone, just following up on this to say they replaced a few of my seals (one of them is a wrap-around U shaped seal so it covers 3 sides) but I was very surprised to see that after replacement the seals did not seem to run the entire length of the glass. For example, the U-shaped seal wraps around the large sunroof glass that is closer to the rear of the car, so the tracks for it run all the way to the back of the glass. The replacement seal was short by 1-2 inches on either side, leaving the track open/exposed.
Let me make it clear that I don't think the mechanic or the shop tried to cheat me, it just seemed very odd. They told me the seals should be the right ones because they ordered them via the VIN number but I pointed out that every other genesis on the lot does not have this issue. The seals are flush with the entire length of the track and do not have any shortfall. They re-ordered the strips for me and will install again when they arrive.
I'm just very puzzled by this.......I'll get some better photos later but here's a quick one that I took.
