  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am buying a used 2013 3.8 (3,500 miles...yes that is accurate...3,500 miles) with tech package and all upgrades from a Hyundai Dealer.

Price is $18,700 but more like 21K after taxes and dealer fees. It is just outside the CPO warranty extension (Just barely) from Hyundai which would have cost $1400 if it qualified and was offered instead the Fidelity Vehicle Protection Plan (Platinum) for an additional $2492. It will cover the car for 10 years, 100,000 with $100 deductible. Questions.

1. Is this worth it? I looked at Consumer Reports and they said Electronics reliability rated 1 out of 5 (labeled with red line) All other areas on consumer reports for reliability were green (meaning good).

2. Can I negotiate the price of the warranty?

If I choose the warranty..total for the car would be $23,847

I plan on keeping the car long term and drive approx only 8K-12K per year, so I should be able to use the warranty until 2028.

Thoughts?

I'd offer $1900 for the warranty and settle for up to $2100.

At 3500 miles it is almost brand new! Good luck with it.

Keep in mind that the CR ratings are for reliability, not rating the feature. CR rates them based on feedback from current and former members of Consumers Union, and they have a large statistical sample.

There have been an above average number of problems with the 2009-2014 audio and infotainment systems, which are usually very expensive to fix (dealers usually replace and not fix them), so make sure your extended warranty does not exclude that.

You have found a unicorn! I bought my 2012 3.8 Premium (NON TECH) in 4 years ago with 31k miles on it. I bought the PLAT WRAP for $2100. They wanted $3500 for it. I was about to walk out. I think you should go for it. Make them negotiate the warranty and PLEASE by all means do NOT get GAP! It is a waste of money 200%.

What is GAP? ...Ok....got it....Guaranteed Auto Protection on Car Loan....I am not getting a loan so no worries about GAP

becareful because the 100,000 mile warranty is for original owners only!! and the A8LR1 has issue with slipping mine started after 60,000
