I am buying a used 2013 3.8 (3,500 miles...yes that is accurate...3,500 miles) with tech package and all upgrades from a Hyundai Dealer.
Price is $18,700 but more like 21K after taxes and dealer fees. It is just outside the CPO warranty extension (Just barely) from Hyundai which would have cost $1400 if it qualified and was offered instead the Fidelity Vehicle Protection Plan (Platinum) for an additional $2492. It will cover the car for 10 years, 100,000 with $100 deductible. Questions.
1. Is this worth it? I looked at Consumer Reports and they said Electronics reliability rated 1 out of 5 (labeled with red line) All other areas on consumer reports for reliability were green (meaning good).
2. Can I negotiate the price of the warranty?
If I choose the warranty..total for the car would be $23,847
I plan on keeping the car long term and drive approx only 8K-12K per year, so I should be able to use the warranty until 2028.
Thoughts?
