If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Please use this discussion to state the advantages and disadvantages between the Hyundai Genesis and Chrysler 300.

Chrysler surprised everyone with the new 300 a few years ago. This is the kind of reaction I foresee with the Hyundai Genesis.. In 300C form, it's a bit more powerful (even though it lacks some horsepower - there's enough of a torque advantage to make a difference), it's got plenty of room, style is there... It's even a pretty luxurious car! I bought a 2007 300C for my wife last year - and we're quite happy with it. Service is terrible - but I'm not quite sure how good service will be for Genesis owners either...

Discuss the highs and lows of each of these vehicles here...

I CAN'T STAND MY CHRYSLER 300C!

With that off of my chest... It is a 2005 7+LAVA... It has more issues than the latest PlayBoy magazine! I think I've driven more miles in the rentals they give me than this car! Good thing I extended the warranty. Sharp looking car? Yes. Big horse power? Yes. Great torque? Yes. Pricey for just this? Yes. Genesis blows this car away in almost every respect.

I'm heading off to the second dealership today for this Black/Black Genesis V8 w/Tech Package... The first dealership refused to work with me on the numbers... Second dealership almost made the deal over the phone! My terms! I'm heading there tonight...

Until then. Have fun driving Chryslers last model year... As I do truly believe they will be belly up by this time next year!

GO GENESIS!

I have a 2007 Chrysler 300C and it was very rough in the beginning.. Lots of computer issue and service was bad.. However, everything has been excellent for the past 6 months.. My wife drives this car far more than I do - and I hope to convince her that a Hyundai Genesis is the right car to replace it with. She's eyeing up Audi A8s, though. :p

After multiple problems with my 06 charger 5.7 I traded it for a MB E350. I must say if the genesis arrived a few months sooner I would have gotten it instead. I can tell you now just because a car has a big name and higher price that alone does not make it a better car.

My Genesis replaced a 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring model. The Chrysler didn't have many problems. It was completely uninspiring. The interior was definitely not luxurious. I had leased it and couldn't wait for the lease to end. The Chrysler got twelve miles per gallon. My Genesis V6 gets fifteen miles per gallon. The Chrysler dealer kept telling me I had not broken the car in yet. But I believe the real reason both cars get such poor gas mileage is that I spend most of my time behind the wheel stopped at traffic lights. Some of the traffic lights last more than four minutes and if someone in front of me falls asleep I may have to sit through two cyles of the light.

I have a 2006 300 Signature Touring. The lease is up next month, and I cant say I'll be sad to see it go. While I liked the styling on the outside, the interior just didn't do anything for me.

We leased it because Chrysler gave us a good deal for rolling from our 2002 Chrysler 300M into this one. In many ways, the '06 300 was a step down from the '02 M. It was missing many features the older one had.

So, I'm ready to go for a Genesis with the tech package. I test drove one back in the fall and loved it. The only thing that kept me from signing the contract right then was that my Chrysler still had 5 months left on the lease!

Yikes! I couldn't wait to get rid of my Chrysler 300C, that thing was horrible! But like you said, the looks of the exterior are great... That is where the greatness ends! Get the Genesis, you'll NEVER look back!

Reliability, reliability reliability, one of the reason why chrysler filed for chapter 11 is poor reliabilty. The other problem include poor management, union asking too much, poor product lineup like avenger and nitro.

I do like the look of the 300C. It's an attrative car no doubt. Putting aside the financial problems for a second... The interior of the car, specifically the center stack is ghastly. I don't get what the story is with American Car companies. They go to great lengths making beautiful exteriors (Challenger, Camaro) but seem to half ass the interior designs. It makes no sense to me.

Regarding interiors, both GM and Ford have come a LONG way over the past year or so. Have you seen the interiors of the Cadillac CTS, Chevy Malibu (not GREAT but pretty nice), Buick Enclave, Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac SRX, Buick LaCrosse (2010), Ford Taurus....? Take a look.. They're top notch..

You're right, the newer versions are considerably better, but all the cars you mention are relatively low production models and expensive save for the Taurus and Malibu. I just wish the Americans would execute a car from A-Z. That is why the genesis is an impressive car, not because it's exceptional at any one thing; it just does everything well and in concert. There's something very cohesive about the car. It's not perfect, but it's an impressive first effort.

I shopped the 300 , knee room and low headliner were issues....

power was great, interior seemed downlevel even in the srt8

Is it me or is the beltline of the 300C very high? Meaning when you are in the drivers seat the part where the doorwindow meets the glass starts at your shoulder/neck. Is this advantageous/disadvan in any way?

Yes, the 300/Charger/Magnum have high belt lines and a raised hip points for easier ingress/egress. This slightly raised seating position also offers a commanding view of the road ahead and has benefits in terms of crash safety, especially w/ raised vehicles like SUVs/trucks. The Ford Taurus also has a high belt line with a high seating position (for a car).

The downside? Poor side/rear visibility and a slightly confined feeling while in the cabin.

I like the new Taurus, in most every way. But the one that you want, you can't get. The SHO production numbers will be limited.

one thing I could not get past was the dash. If I had to stare at that all day while I was driving would drive me crazy. Its just the speedometer and other dials are too close to the plastic overlay. I know Im picky, but it looks rather cheap.
