  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Within the past week....

- Got a forward collision system failure notice, went away after maybe 10 minutes during same drive
- Got a haptic feedback failure notice, went away after a few minutes during the same drive
- Steering wheel not retracting when getting out, staying in memory set 1 position, doesn't happen every time
- Gas mileage is resetting almost every time I start the car, sometimes while I am driving, doesn't happen every time
- Clock is resetting and doing a 12hr sweep when stopping or starting the car, doesn't always happen with mpg reset, but pretty consistent. Doesn't happen every time I stop or start
- When shifting from R to P, when backing into driveway or parking space, there is now a significant THUNK on the shifter, but only when shifting out of R, happens every time
- As of today, shifted into R to back into a spot, pressed the gas aaaaaand nothing, was all WTF, shifted to P and back to R, got a response.... might have thought this was isolated but now I am SURE (because of this) that twice recently the accelerator wasn't responding right away when slowly pulling away from a stop sign, I thought I was imagining things, clearly I wasn't aaaaaand can't replicate

If this were a Volvo, while I wouldn't be happy about any of it, I wouldn't genuinely FEAR going to the dealership as my family have been going to Roger Beasley on 290 for almost 20 years (and the owner lives down the street from my mother). In central TX, I have 2 options, South Point Hyundai, which is GHEHEHEHEEETTO, or Round Rock Hyundai which is less hooptytown central but has equally as horrifying reviews. I guess I could take the reviews with a grain of salt, but my mother goes there for her 2013 Genesis oil changes etc and they have always done their best to make sure they inform her that's she is imagining everything and there is no problem and they have nothing to fix. RR Hyundai is also notorious for getting yelp reviews pulled, hey, it's a Penske dealership, they have more money than god and undoubtedly have some modicum of influence over Yelp, not saying yelp is reliable, honest, trustworthy, etc, just making a point. I wish I had an alternative, ANY alternative, but for a less than 2 year old car with less than 12k miles, the prospect of having to take it to them is nothing less than stomach turning. As Dr. Zoidberg would say, it is giving me the anxieties. The interior (white) is PERFECT and I have taken great pains to ensure the paint is FLAWLESS (I'm the guy that parks 2 miles from the front door of, well, any place). The bottom line though is I clearly have to take it in. Son, I am disappoint.

Had to vent folks.

Ouch, that is a long list. Warranty? That at least takes the cost pain out of it. I have to wonder if this is all related to one module that can be swapped out and fix it all. Good luck, let us know the result.

Never had a problem with RR Hyundai. However, never had to have any "major" mechanical issue worked on. Had a 2011 Sonata. The new style came with some growing pains. There were a few issues that needed attention. They always fixed them on the 1st try. I'm also the guy that parks in the sticks. Wife always chides me about it, but we don't have any dings yet. RR will ask if you want the car washed. I always decline, because I have my own method. Always do a walk around when the car is returned to be sure there has been no damage while in their care. Never has been. Just my 2 cents.

The front desk seems nice on the phone but prior to buying my car I went in twice, the first time no one seemed interested in helping me including a dude eating a big ass sandwich in his little office trying his best not to make eye contact a second time and two other people in a separate office who both saw me standing around looking at the 2 2015s in the showroom, but didn't come out either, so I left. Second time I got helped immediately by a small man who REALLY didn't want to show me or even talk about the black on black 2015 I saw online, even had the stock number, so after about the third time he ignored me when I asked to see the one I saw online with a great "internet price", i left. Now, i get that sales and service are two different animals, but when i was getting a few extra bits for the 2016 I did actually end up getting, i could never get anyone in parts and left three unreturned mssgs, so meh. Granted that describes a LOT of dealerships in Austin, so there we are. Maybe things are diff now? Dunno.

While I don't see how the transmission clunk would be related (but I'm also not a Hyundai tech), that was my thought too, one module to rule them all....hopefully

I'm the same, I don't want the wash or an interior clean, ever, on any of my cars. According to the madre, they do the walk around before and after now and have been for a while, no worries, ima take pics when i'm there to CYA, I've spent too many hours on the paint not to.

Bottom line is that I hopped in to turn the car around about an hour after posting and the gauge cluster isn't lighting up, so whatever this is, it's progressive and getting worse fast, so Ima make an appt at RR tomorrow and hope for the best.

You might need to check voltages, that is a lot happening in a short time and a low voltage on any car can cause a multitude of issues.

Sounds like it's electrical. Check the battery terminals and the nuts holding down the buss inside the fuse panel.

I have beed very happy with Round Rock Hyundai. Their follow through when my car is in for service is very good. They call with updates and are fair and honest. It is one of the better dealerships I have dealt with over the years.

Do you recommend a particular service rep?

I've had horrible experiences with RR Hyundai.
  • When I first took my car in, one of the service reps tried to claim that they could "tell by looking at it that my alignment was off" (despite me having had my alignment done twice, once by a Certified Master Hyundai mechanic from Seoul). This person also claimed that they weren't sure (because my car is lowered) that it would even fit on the hoist for the thing it was in for (despite it clearing multiple hoists in multiple dealerships and locations in other places). That was the beginning of a sour relationship, as the service writer seemed insistent on telling telling me untrue things about my car in an attempt to, I dunno, gain credibility? IT was almost like this person wanted to "show me up" by being right about my car for some odd ego reason.
  • They didn't want to take a look at my sunroof. This service writer (a different one than the first one) flippantly told me, that over 12,000 miles squeaks and rattles were not Hyundai's problem (despite their being aware of the systemic panoramic sunroof problems). Itt took a call to Hyundai corporate to get them to act. After the call, I waited more than a month for the dealership to contact me. In fact, Hyundai corporate called me back and were surprised that the dealer hadn't reached out to me.
  • Routinely took 2-3 hours to get my oil changed. Now granted, this wasn't with an appointment, and they even warned me that it would be a while one time. I had my laptop so I got some work done, and sure enough it was almost 3 hours. Annoying but my own fault, right? Well when I got my car back, all my electronic devices in the car had been unplugged. I thought to myself "WTF were you guys doing that you needed to unplug my stuff?" Then it dawned on me that it's possible that they thought it was a dash-cam, and if that was the case, then why pray tell would someone need to unplug my dash-cam? On an oil-change that took 3 hours? So when I got the dealership survey, I gave them a negative score. The service manager sent me an angry email telling me how they'd warned me that it would take a while and demanding to know why I gave them a negative review? I succinctly mentioned that all of my electronic devices had been unplugged (and left unplugged), and I never heard from him again. That was my last interaction with them. To Hades with RR Hyundai.

Agree with Celltech. Sounds like the battery.

My original service advisor was Wil Aguillon. He was promoted to another position in the service department. He set me up with Brandon Fuller for my next service. I was very happy with both advisors. I generally leave my car for service and do not wait for it.

- "Clock is resetting and doing a 12hr sweep when stopping or starting"

Definitely sounds electrical. In the old days we called it a "floating ground problem". It likely is an issue, that once located, the fix fixes everything. Find a dealer, you are happy with, and get it fixed. Good luck!!!

Everything went away for about 24 hrs, now it's back, so yeah, gotta take it in. Aquineas, yeah, it's that kind of bullshit I fear I will run into, but I need to grit my teef and do it, I can't let this continue and sp is sooooo far away and I hate austin soooo much, i can only plan for the worst so I am pleasantly surprised by anything better than 0. 2211, I agree, that was my thought on the issue, if not a bad module a loose ground. This all reminds me very much of complex stereo installs back in the 90s, all it took was one weak ground to screw w everything.

anyhoo, I will update when I have a definitive answer, I just pray it won;t be a chasing gremlins thing

I am NOT going to complain about Houston Hyundai dealers ever again. :nonono:

well, to be fair, I got mine at Humble Hyundai, at almost 9k off before taxes and fees, but after the sale was a fiasco that's not worth going into, but does neatly fit under "once they have your money, don't expect a call back"

Quite interesting. I recently bought my G80 at RR Genesis (aka RR Hyundai). No issues with the buying experience. In fact, was one of the best of all recent purchases. I also went through the service department tour, met the Genesis service rep, etc. Usual stuff. You wouldn't know this was also a Hyundai service center. Fully enclosed air conditioned drive and service bays, very clean, nice waiting areas, etc. I suppose you'd expect top dollar spent given the parent company.

They've also got at least 5 certified Genesis mechanics. Which is really something you should always verify before taking your vehicle in for repair at any Hyundai/Genesis dealer. Some Hyundai dealers in the area don't have any, and technically shouldn't service any Genesis cars. Because of this, it was noted they can have up to 2 week lead time for service; at least if you want a loaner.

With that said, I'm always cautious with that "first visit" to any new dealer's service department. There are good and bad reviews out there for everybody. We'll see how they do...

Also, regarding noises. Hyundai/Genesis categorize that under the "Adjustments" section of the warranty coverage. Which is 1 year/12k.
From page 15 in the warranty handbook:

ADJUSTMENTS
Most service adjustments required as a result of a manufacturing
deficiency are covered for the first year or 12,000 miles,
whichever occurs first. Thereafter, all adjustments will be
considered owner maintenance responsibility.

Naturally, I would expect there to be exceptions. Such as "known issues" or TSB for common problems. But notable, nonetheless.

This most likely is a better saving technique. I have solar powered atomic watches that will set the hands to noon when the watch is not detecting enough light to charge the battery. As soon as light is detected the watch hands move to the correct time. The clock in the G80 is getting its time from the GPS so when the car is off the clock goes into an idle state and will not use any power. When the car is turned on and it gets the time from the GPS signal it moves the hands to the correct time.

So likely there is a parasitic drain on the battery and the car is going into battery save mode.

As I’ve stated in another thread, I have found on my 2018 that I think I’ve turned off the car only to find that it is in a acc mode, something about how long you hold the button causes it to key cycle. If in acc too long it will go into a power save mode and on the next restart I will see some odd behaviors like the clock sweep.
