If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just wanted to start this thread for everyone to put in their opinions of any G70 test drives they experience as i will have a drive tomorrow and will share then

Hey All
Test drive was awesome !!
The G70 basically lived up to my expectations which were pretty high to start with.

I have driven C43, Cla45, 440i(with m power kit) , m240i as well as Audi s3 and A4, i also currently drive and own a 335xi.

The G70 competes with all the above in all categories and surpasses some of them.

The performance i feel is on par with the 440i and C43 and even feels similar to the M240i even though that is a smaller car. Takeoff from a standstill is responsive and almost instant similar to the Germans and with the active engine sound on it also sounds better than i expected but not on par with an AMG exhaust or M perf exhaust of course.

Interior quality is on par with a top trim A/S4 and a tad below Mercedes but beats the shit outta BMW

Something not alot of people mention is the difference of insureance price which should also be mentioned with price as you will save $10000 or more on purchase price but also another 4-6 grand on insureance !!!!!

I was torn between the M240i and G70 but after test drives and final finance numbers including insureance it was a Bang for buck no brainer for the Genesis.

Hopefully i can get a deal completed to get inside a new G70

Some small gripes with the car as i do not want to be too positive lol

No illuminated door sills

No pano sunroof

No sport exhaust option

Launch control felt slower than just mashing on gas ( hard to explain the feeling maybe we just did it wrong )

No ambeint lighting at all

Not sure tailights and turn signals are led

No all digital dash

These are all kinda small gripes ( in my opinion) which i think will trickle into the car over the next couple model years

Glad you liked the G70 and was impressed by the test drive. Curious. Where do you reside? Canada I presume?

I'll just post a quick few words right now and maybe post a longer review later.

Damn, it's fast. I test drove it with the GXM, my girlfriend, and I in it and it was fast. Scary fast.
The KIA Stinger was fast but this fast quick and brutally fast, and incredibly planted. I imagine it was a bit scarier as a passenger. The interior was amazing, according to my girlfriend, compared to my TLX, but I didn't really notice it.

Big downsides for me were the paddle shifters feeling a bit spongy and the shifting mode going back to normal auto upon full stop. You have to turn off the TCS to get the full manual and that's just not something I want to do.

I'm going to miss the cushy, spacious ride of my TLX (especially for my 30-45 minute commute...) but in a week or two, it's going to be driven by my girlfriend while the G70 replaces it for me. =) My finance application went through and it's now just a matter of the car arriving.
Next year? Probably adding a G80 Sport. That's how 'wow'ed' I was.

Congrats! I knew you would enjoy it. The G70 3.3T Sport is truly an incredible machine. I have convinced even Porsche die-hards that this car is an incredible driver's car (and this is coming from me, a self-admitted Porsche guy).

Thanks for the great impressions! Glad you love the car. ;)

Did you two exclusively drive in Sport mode? Interested in how well regular Auto mode feels in terms of throttle response. Thanks

I only drove in sport

My wife did drive in comfort a bit on the highway and the suspension did feel softer.

I'm not the OP but I'll chime in. Comfort is obviously not as sharp as Sport but it will still accelerate without much hesitation if you step on it a bit more. Complete opposite of a G80 Sport.

No pano sunroof

Personally, wouldn't take the lack of a pano roof as a negative.

Pretty much all automakers are having issues w/ their pano roofs shattering and besides, they add weight (while reducing structural integrity) and rob headroom.

If they are going to offer it, would want it to be as a stand-alone option.

I'm inclined to agree. Living in the south, even a standard-sized sunroof pretty much remains closed and almost always has the shade closed. Nighttime is the only exception for the shade and, even then, I prefer not to have ambient lighting distracting form what's happening on the road in front of me.

The sunroof is called a "wide sunroof" -- it is full-width of the roof of the car like a panoramic sunroof but it isn't as long as the panoramic roof (the sloping roof design is partly to do with that reasoning).

Either way, not much of a factor for me.

I would also agree i guess the main reason i like a pano roof is because it usually results in an all black roof so it would have been nice to paint the whole thing black and save me a few hundred bucks on vinyl wrap

Agreed. The sunroof is perfectly fine the way it is. If/when a hi-po G70 comes out, I would even be fine with no sunroof.

This seems like one of those things that would get really annoying to me after driving it for a while, as it just nags into my OCD.

Nice, thanks for the clip! Doesn't sound bad, either.

Here's a fun clip for you folks. No idea where it is...and someone recorded it vertically. Really?

But...he punches it and you can hear it...sent chills up my arms :)

I swear I count 4.5 seconds for it to get to 100 km/h. Perhaps even a tad quicker.

Genesis G70 is near 4 second car from 0 - 60mph. It puts considerably more power to the ground than the Stinger. What's scary is that this car will do even better at the quarter mile and high triple digits in the highways. This car will take out Infiniti Q50 RS400 all the way to the top end including Mustang GT, E92 M3s, E60 M5, Lexus IS-F and RC-F, Audi S5 and the list goes on.. One of the Korean review/test drivers made a comment not to go take your car and try to race against one of these G70 3.3tt models because you will get humilated. This car is severely underrated on paper. Many people on the road will underestimate this car because it only has 365hp but performs way beyond 400hp. It will surprise many people when this car starts to hit the street.

I think you need to settle down a bit...LOL. It is NOT a 4 second car. The Stinger is ~4.7 seconds to 60 mph. I gather the G70 will be between 4.4 and 4.5. With the RaceChip...we are looking at 4 seconds.

We just need to wait for the notable mags to get a hold of one and do what they do.
