  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

The Giulia Quadrifoglio is in a rank of it's own. 3.6 second car for $80k USD. Hot.

Its the kind of car that is fun to drive, but you want to live close to the dealer so you can walk home every time you have to drop it off for some sort of repair. Not the car for me from a practicality POV.

So there are known issues with the car? Like factual...not going by their reputation almost 2 decades ago?

A bit of both. First, let's start off with the fact that any high performance car tends to need more TLC than the family Chevy station wagon. Alfa. like most cars is more reliable today than they were 20 years go, but there are always some better than others. I'd not buy a Fiat either. This is a bit more up to date though
Are Alfa Romeo reliable? An Honest Look at the Car Brand | OSV
A couple of excerpts:
And of course, in the Which survey, Alfa Romeo came in the top 5 for most unreliable car manufacturers, with a reliability score of just 69%.
Another study reported by the Express found that Audi came 28th out of 36 for reliability. It did beat Alfa Romeo, however, who came 33rd.

Lexus, on the other hand, are in a whole different league. Consistently in the top 10 for reliability, Lexus came 6th in the Telegraph survey, with just 1 in 101 vehicles suffering engine failures.

Thanks for the info.

Funny you mention Fiat. I might show my age...but you know what Fiat stands for right? Fix it again Tony !!!!

^ i recall that when auto journalists were reviewing the Giulia Quad each the cars they tested went into limp mode and required factory tech support to sort out electrical or ECM gremlins. not sure if that was pre-production units or what, but owners seem to have the same problems.

Alfa Romeo Seems To Be In The Middle Of A Giulia Reliability Crisis

Ok...I didn't mean to cause an Alfa discussion. :) But at least that car is available today with some sick lease deals. The Stinger is nice, but it is missing some features and their dealers are horrible.

I hope they do a press launch soon as I'm looking forward to seeing some video reviews from south of the border.

Yeah, it's been there for about a month maybe and so far I've received zero updates.

There must be some fighting going on between Genesis division and Hyundai (for lack of better words). THe Hyundai dealership I bought mine from said they had to build a new building to quallify to be able to sell Genesis. Perhaps there is a battle is going on with older dealerships in the States not wanting to upgrade their facilities? Pretty hard to have an upscale image in an old building.

Not really.
But there may be a requirement for a separate building that meets certain specifications for floor space, waiting areas, service bays.

A very real possibility. They are most likely going for a 'brand' look and have specific architectural plans/criteria for that look.

The two dealers in this area that I've gotten reports from suggested that they would be having dedicated spaces for Genesis for sure in one case, and if they decide to opt into being a Genesis dealership in the other. To me, that sounds like there's a corporate expectation of a dedicated space for Genesis.

Around here you do not find Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infinity in the same building or on the same lot. There is the exception now with this new Hyundai/Genesis dealership.

This is a subject that has been discussed extensively on this forum, as the latest events progress. It's a little more complicated than you might think, and at the same time they seem to have decided on a new path in choosing who the new dealers will be, but those details are not yet public yet (but may start to be any day now).

It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. Hopefully sooner than later.

Everything but the details of which dealers get the Genesis franchises has been decided. All of them selected can keep selling cars at current dealerships, if they agree to build a separate dealership by some date to in the future (probably 2-3 years).

Since it takes about $10 million for an individual investor to build and start up a new dealership, not all of the existing ones going to do that. In the USA, auto dealers cannot be owned by the manufacturer (except when specific exemptions are made, like for Tesla in "some" states).

All of this has been discussed ad infinitum (or ad nauseum) in other threads over the last month.

At least you guys are hearing something about a pending launch in the US. We here in Australia are being given the mushroom treatment.
First a Feb launch. Then an April launch. Then a May launch and still nothing. I hope their lack of organisation doesn't follow on to the manufacturing of their cars.
I might have to buy a C43 instead.

FWIW , I went to one of the main Hyundai dealerships in LA today, and spoke to a genesis specialist. Granted it was late and I didn't push too hard/there was no manager there, but he said that last they heard they won't get the G70s by the end of the year (September or later). He also said that they aren't given much lead time before announcements anyway (typically 4 weeks) so who knows, but it seems to me any dates being given out by anyone at this point are pure speculation. He did verify that the hold up was due to the stand alone Genesis franchise standoff.
