  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Alternatives to G70?

ATS-V is $20000 more than a G70 brand new but with a discount on older model year its closer to a $10000 difference. If someone is looking for a RWD rocket ship i would suggest a discounted ATS-V
I chose the G70 as it was the best AWD car under $60000 cad in my opinion but if i lived in the US where there is less snow in some states i may have gotten an ATSV on discount
Definitely wasn't talking about new. Some 2015's are about $40k and certified '16s are around $50k. I wouldn't opt for the ATSV because of the size. The CTS VSport is more in line with my needs. I'll stick with my car for as long as I can.. That's not saying much because the longest I've held onto a car was 3 years.

LOL yeah i also like to change cars every few years

Nothing wrong with what Beefer said. The tread lightly part was a giveaway that meant I wasn't serious.

Very nice of you to clear that up! :bow:One unfortunate thing with the web is that common sayings can have different meaning depending on where you are from.

Where I am from, advising someone to tread lightly in a conversation is meant as a warning to the recipient that what they are saying is starting to piss you off and if they continue you are about to get all medieval on them. :bash:

I'm not a fan of indirect communication which seems to be the norm nowadays and inevitable for some communities such as this forum. The lack of emotion and intent from text is the culprit.

We're all friends here!

Sarcasm and tone as definitely difficult to read online. Thought I was better at it but must still work on it.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Not sure why this thread exists. If you want a barn burner that can limit tire wear to maybe 5000 and a lot of smoke, go for the Mustang (2 seater) as the only adults that will fit in the back seat after a lot of twisting and turning are midgets or very small children. If you want a smart SEDAN with less performance, go for the G70.

How does the G70 compare to the Is350 in terms of comfort ? I switched from IS350 to BMW 1 series, and while I love the extra sporty BMW, its way too uncomfortable for longer commutes which is becoming a problem (wife hates driving far distances in it). I love the G70 design, but worried it may have too stiff ride than the IS350.

Is350 was too sluggish and slow for me

I think the new 2019 bmw 3 (G20) series will be the biggest target drawn up within genesis HQ. If the new CLAR architecture brings back the sportiness of their earlier years, I don't see G70 making a big splash as it hoped for, especially if the US release of the G70 is delayed until it coincides with the G20 release. I wonder if BMW will also have a better lease program off the gate than the g70.

How has no one mentioned cross shopping with Lexus IS350 ?
I've sold some IS350s before.

What I like about it:
  • More rear legroom compared to the G70

What I dislike about it:
  • Sluggish acceleration
  • Loose steering with no feedback
  • Sloppy suspension
  • That god-awful hump by your right leg intruding the driver's footwell area (they couldn't have packaged things up better?)
  • The infotainment input system (the "mouse") does not work well while you are driving, IMO. Mice work better at computer desks.

Thanks guys, I'm aware of the Lexus's shortcomings (espicially that terrible infotainment) and the IS350's less than stellar road feel and poor steering. I will disagree on the suspension which I thought was great for its purpose, a luxury comfortable subcompact sedan.

For me the G70 is placed to compete with both the IS350 and 3 series. It has a wider wheelbase and more aggressive stance and sportier setup than the IS350, but a premium interior and extras the 3 series does not come standard with (and the germans just don't do luxury well).

I'm just curious how the G70 performs as a luxury car. Will it be comfortable on long drives? Is the adaptive suspension good at damping on bumpy roads? How stiff is the suspension? All things the IS350 is good at, and the 3 series less focused on.

freaking wish they'd just release this car in the us already, I'm tired of waiting and having to ask around for things I could get a better sense of on a test drive.

Definitely not Mercedes.
