  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

You may be right, but the G80 Sport is still a little rare and then again int he south AWD is very rare. Genesis dealers here don't understand the value of HTRAC in Sport mode.

You might want to review this video and research AWD vs RWD performance. This Stinger RWD outperformed the AWD by a fairly substantial amount.

I watched that and was rather shocked at it, I would hope they had the car in Sport mode as my understanding is then all 4 wheels are driving, otherwise the AWD is passive and a boat anchor.

I beleive it, AWD, was in sport mode. The RWD has far more mechanical drift allowing the car to be pushed into the corners at a higher speed for a greater distance.
Another article explains the difference.
FWD vs. RWD vs. AWD: How the wheels that turn change the way you drive
Partial quote:
"So, you might imagine, all-wheel drive must be the best of both worlds. Well, yes and no. In terms of acceleration, it’s true: all-wheel drive usually is the quickest off the line with little to no slip under full power. On the track, AWD systems enable incredible levels of grip during cornering, but all that grip can sometimes get in the way of driver-controlled maneuvers.
If a new driver picked one setup to compete with seasoned pros, all-wheel drive would be the best choice. Advancing to fast lap times on an AWD vehicle is more manageable than the same feat in both FWD and RWD configurations because it’s easier to recover from mistakes and easier to push a vehicle in each corner without dire results. However, when it comes to next-level driver mechanics, AWD vehicles are actually more difficult to manipulate than their FWD and RWD counterparts. An unbiased (front or rear) all-wheel drive system strongly resists artificial movements like rotation from trail braking and oversteer. Grip is great, but experienced drivers can get more out of a vehicle that let’s them “force” their will in certain conditions."

Hmm, cool, thanks for the info

be curious to hear how you do. 52K is about the best I've gotten from email correspondence. Even though some of the cars appear to have been offered for well over 6 months. Even more curious is the pricing of demo, low mileage and "executive driven" for the g80 sports. Seems there is barely any discount vs a hard bargained new car. Not sure if it is due to scarcity of used g80 sports but doesn't at all reflect the depreciation profile of other g80s. Any thoughts on the impact of 2019 models coming on line in a few months?

What do you make of this? 2018 G80 Sport with 399 miles, $36,699, they are calling it used. Must be a scam or catch somewhere. Perhaps water damaged?

Car has a branded title. From wikipedia : "Vehicle title branding is the use of a permanent designation on a vehicle's title, registration or permit documents to indicate that a vehicle has been written off due to collision, fire or flood damage or has been sold for scrap. "

Yeah, it says to click to find out why they are the best value. Too scary for me. It may be a great value or it may be a lot of money flushed down the toilet. I'd take a chance on a $300 TV, but not a 37k auto.

I do know a couple of people that had flood damage in that area. Maybe it was their neighbor.

That says it all :) Thanks

Dealer is offering a 2018 Genesis Ultimate with 467 miles for $47,775. They bought it from a private party who purchased it two months ago, so it is titled and being sold as used. They will also pay in full for my trade at high end of KBB private party sale, a price I am not likely to get if sold privately (would be short $3,000-$4,000 of what they will pay).

Genesis seems fairly priced, but with my trade-in they won't be making much, if anything on this---should this cause any hesitation?

Offered a 2018 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate that has 467 miles for $47,750; it is being sold as "used" since it was titled two months ago. Dealer says it was used as demonstration car by Hyundai for local dealers since delivered in January, 2018. Dealer will also take in my trade for full KBB price at which I could sell to a private party (which I doubt I could get on my own).

Any red flags for this deal?

@slowmo - I had a similar situation with my '18 G80 Sport. The car was labled used because it was a showroom car. Make sure to check the carfax for the mileage and also ensure the car comes with the standard "new" warranty for Genesis.

Thanks. They said as a "program" car it comes with the full "new" car warranty balances (minus the 2 months)

That was exactly my situation as well. It worked out for me and I got a hell of a deal!

That is a terrific price on a 2018 5.0 Ultimate, they list near $60K. There are a lot of program cars out there, although $12,000 off for 467 miles, seems much more than average, even on the program cars. The price would be about right for a 3.8 Ultimate. List $55-$56k. I bought a new 3.8 Ultimate in December, $48,750. (list $55,640) Traded my Acura TLX, they gave me roughly 3k more than KBB trade in value.

Hi everyone,

Hoping to hear your opinion on a lease I was just offered. I have until Tuesday to decide on the deal or it "expires".

36 months, 15k miles a year, G80 Sport 3.3T
$678 a month, taxes included, sign and drive
I got screwed over by another dealer with a $1,000 deposit so they also told me they would write me a check for $1,000 when I sign, which is around ~$28 a month (assuming I ever get my other deposit back).

What do you guys think? Thanks!

No purchase here but I do see some dealers marking the base sedan- which is what I'm eyeing- for just under $6k off sticker. No one has purchased since June 23?

$44,000 G80 RWD
Patagonia blue with beige
Premium package
GA dealer.
What city and dealer in GA did you buy from? If not allowed to put dealer name, what city in GA?
