If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Number of Genesis sold in USA in 2017 and 2018

I don't know if they are floating the dealerships any money, either in grants or loans. All I know is what has leaked out in the press about the original 100 dealer plan, and the new plan were about 350 existing Hyundai dealers (out of over 800 total) are allowed to apply for a Genesis dealership. They will be required to build a separate facility by some future date, just a Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti have separate dealerships.

Lexus , Acura and Infinti started with separate dealerships

What's the difference?

I am not investing in a Genesis dealership, nor am I predicting whether they will be profitable. I am just telling you what the plan is, as has been reported by the media (based on information supplied to them unofficially by Genesis Motors and various dealers).

The point is that they have and started with separate dealerships

VERY different from what Hyundai is trying to do with Genesis

Very observant. Do you want a merit badge for that?

I guess

You asked what's different and I answered the question

I guess I would ask why you needed to ask the question?......the answer was VERY obvious to me

Funny how its looks like they tried to "deceive " showing only the Genesis portion in the photo

As you can see from the photo I took this morning..nothing has changed
Genesis area was repurposed from some of the Hyundai showroom

You pull in the same service drive..near the Hyundai signage on the left side...

If they had taken the picture from the other side of the building you could see Genesis on one side of the building and Hyundai on the other side

I will say the other Genesis dealers in town haven't even gone this far....one has just a small free standing sign outside and one Genesis parked in a corner by itself in a showroom full of Hyundai's

Warren
That was my suspicion when I first saw it on line.

What are they trying to deceive? They do sell Genesis don't they? Highlighting, perhaps. If I went in and they only sold Fiats, I'd claim deception.

I personally don't think it makes a big difference in how they started out, vs how they end up (sold at Hyundai dealers or sold at dedicated Genesis dealers). So long as they have the necessary sales to support a separate dealership (when they are built and open for business), it doesn't make any difference that I know of. I have no idea whether they will, or will not, have enough sales to support a separate Genesis only dealership, but I don't think it has anything to do with the fact they used to sell them at a Hyundai dealership.

Well...I don't know why they just didn't take a picture of the entire dealership
If you had actually seen the dealership in person I am sure you would see that photo was "high-lighted"

The obvious big difference is the difference in financial investment at the onset

I said two years ago they would not have a free standing dealership by this time...and they wont until they have some products that sell in the thousands of units per month

Whatever that will be I don't know

However I say they will remain where they are with the current sales volume

Take a look at advertisements, both print and TV. They highlight products. They show a bottle of Heinz ketchup, not the entire aisle even though they sell other products.
This dealership sells Hyundai, Ford, Mazda, but you'd never tell looking at the website New and Used Hyundai Dealer Plainfield | Central Hyundai
but they are all in front of you as you pull into the driveway.

Not to steal this thread but I think one of the biggest marketing mistakes Hyundai/Genesis has done is the COMPLETE lack of any advertising. Nothing in any media. Print Newspapers, Magazines,Local Dealer or National Television all nonexistant in the Western Canadian Market anyway.
After owning my 2016 genesis for 6 months people still ask me " What kind of car is that?" & we all know the 2nd generation car has been available for 4 years now.Not to mention Genesis has now been around for 9 years.
It's hard to believe Hyundai has no interest in improving sales of these great cars.We drive the world's best kept secret.

I am very familiar with the Terry Lee Hyundai dealership as I have patronized them for a few years now..as I think I stated before
At this location ...they sell Hyundai and Genesis vehicles

This is a very large dealership and probably the largest Hyundai dealership in the state
That being said..the picture of the "Genesis" portion only represents perhaps 15% of what is under roof

Not sure if you can tell from the picture I took today of the dealership?

But..near the door where the Genesis logo is they typically have two cars
The rest of the substantial showroom , vehicle wise, is all Hyundai's along the whole side

There is a common service drive that is two garage doors wide and two times 3 cars deep in the service writer reception area
There is also a substantial substantial amount of service bays.....16 or so
There is a customer breakroom area and restrooms near there and close to the Genesis sign you see in the picture
Around another corner is all the dealership offices

So..frankly
I think a better impression would be to show how substantial the entire dealership is versus showing 15% of it...since that is really what you are getting

I don't understand this discussion about Terry Lee Hyundai dealership. A few years ago, Hyundai very strongly "encouraged" (or sort of required) dealers who were selling the G90 to have a separate sales area for Genesis. That has nothing to do (as far as I understand it) with the new requirement to have a separate dealership for Genesis, starting in a couple of years.

BTW, I believe the Parts Manager of the dealership is a member of this forum.

If by "separate " sales area you mean turning a corner before you get to the Hyundais….then it is separate

btw...the dealership I bought the Equus from...Bob Stallings Hyundai in Dallas Texas...had a very similar set up

So, frankly, it is strictly a marketing thing that they are reaching out to potential Genesis customers. Perhaps you should contact Mr Lee and offer to do his marketing and advertising.

Recently, Heinz has been running commercials about their ketchup but, if following your directives, they should show their mayonnaise, pickles, vinegar, etc, since it is part of what they sell. Evidently, Terry Lee wanted to emphasize Genesis sales so the featured that as an eye catcher. It is done very day by a myriad of retailers of many products. It is not at all deceptive. You do not have to like it though.

Actually..I don't really even care...do you?
That is my point

They could just sell them as Hyundais as they have done in the past...and frankly I think that's what the buying public thinks anyway

Do you think a REAL potential Genesis customer cares?

Luxury cars in the United States have been sold in the same traditional fashion for eons

Hyundai has chosen to try a different way

Nothing has changed, in my opinion...they just put a new sign on a part of the Hyundai dealership , they have one new model and one old model with another badge

It doesn't effect me nor do I care in any way

You started out by saying just showing the Genesis sign was deception. Evidently, it is not

I still say it is
whats the point considering what else is going on?...and I don't think a REAL Genesis buyer even cares

That appears to a lot more than what most of the 350 Hyundai dealers did, who also sell the G90.
