  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I don't want to get one right away, but then again I can't wait, I want to see it and drive it! I feel like if I fall in love I'll get a bad deal with no incentives, I'm known as a pretty impatient guy lol

But don't you wanna be the cool guy on the block with the awesome new ride that no one has and everyone wants?! How many missed incentive deals is that worth???

When Hyundai (and later Kia) were first introduced to the USA, they were first only sold in a very few states. Started with California, then slowly spread to other states, state by state. (Yes, I'm old and remember how they introduced.)

Don't see why Genesis not doing that today.

So...I am looking forward to the first couple of weeks of Sept. Perhaps last week of Aug.

But maybe pricing earlier than that?

Contracts with existing dealers. Not to mention they have to abide by 50 sets of state laws on franchises now that they are established.

Doubtful any incentives will come up on the G70 for a while..... you could pick up a solid G80 Sport right now for roughly close to what the G70 will run you.

Or sell your BRZ now and do a month-long rental of a cheapo Nissan Versa!!

Definitely want to wait for the G70. I have another vehicle (that I’ll also sell by the time I’m ready to buy) so I don’t need the BRZ for anything in particular. I just don’t think I’ll ever sell it for close to what I’d like to. More I sell it for means the sooner I can get into a G70. Otherwise more saving and waiting.

2019 Genesis G70: Newest car in Genesis lineup rounds out sedan trio [First Look]

A couple days old... but a line at the bottom caught my eye:

"Genesis said the all-new G70 will hit dealers in early August."

From the article -

But with more than 220,000 units already sold worldwide and only two vehicles in its stable, the nascent automaker is inching its way upwards.

Not bad for a 2.5 year old brand presently in a limited # of markets, w/ the G70 (the 1st model in a volume segment) still yet to launch in the States.

I bought a brand new 2018 model in July of 2017, and had probably the first one in San Diego, I lost 2,500 in rebates on the exact same 2017 model year, so can't say I haven't done it lol

Used to be. Built in Saltillo Truck Assembly, Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico by a company owned by Fiat. I think they still build them in Warren Michigan too.

My SRT8 had components from there and I'm pretty sure part of it was assembled in Mexico as well. More to come on that after some research

Ok, who's willing to bet on some new information come August 1st?

I'm thinking you are right, but given past history I'm not ready to put money on it.

I'll give you information coming on the 1st.... but if it is anything it almost certainly won't be pre-ordering. It will probably be a configurable thing on their website and that's it if anything (might not even include pricing)

It really sucks that they held the press event and have released all the information about the car and they are now leaving us in the dark for weeks...

All we can do is wish, hope, and guess until Genesis decides to drop some actual information.

Ok...replying to myself here.

I am very persistent...and have a slow afternoon.

I managed to get through and actually speak with Marty Focht.

I could not get any pricing out of him. I asked him to play over/under...nope.

But...car is not being released in August !!! Perhaps...tiny chance...very end of Aug. But he said cars should be landing in Sept...so probably early Sept.

I am in VA...and he did say that VA has a license to sell...have had it for a while actually. So he said VA will be one of the first to start seeing the cars. They are trying to rollout as evenly as they can across States...but there will be differences.

So...I am looking forward to the first couple of weeks of Sept. Perhaps last week of Aug.

Now I can chill and stop refreshing stuff every 23.1 seconds. Fme.

I did ask about the 2 special editions. He said they will be priced just a bit more...nothing crazy. In regards to the green...if it gets good feedback...it will become available as a standard color later on.

Cheers.

First and foremost thank you for all of the inside info you've provided in this forum speaking to several higher level employees in the company.

I am in Northern Virginia (actually just moved from Richmond back up here last year) and would love to know if you expect to just pre-order from the closest dealership to you in RVA or do you expect to negotiate with several dealerships?

Or do you see this as a "I would be lucky to get sticker considering the interest out there" type situation?

Well...my thinking is that they botched this release so bad...that they won’t screw around with pricing. They are desperate to get sales going. Who knows what our moron leader will do with tariffs.

With that said...I won’t order...I’ll take existing inventory. I’ll call around up to a 2 hour radius to get the best deal.

It would be great to support my local Midlothian dealer...so we will see.

How desperate? More ways to screw up than pricing. Unattractive leases (low residual and/or high money factor) compared to the competition, for one.

Well they won’t give them away...but I highly doubt they will tack on or up price. Perhaps budge by a grand or even two...dunno. We just have to wait.

Well its official. I was going to wait until August, but given news above, I'm going to buy another car. I waited since January and honestly regret doing so. Maybe I'll get one down the line

You cannot wait another ~30 days?

They'll price them at whatever the US pricing will be first and see what the demand is. Then they can always offer a manufactures rebate later if they feel they are not moving enough cars.
