  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No, but I am curious to see what the Porsche Mission E/Taycan is like. Different car but I like cars that handle.
Agreed. I saw a Model 3 the other day and didn’t really care for it. And plus I HATE the interior of it.

I too am excited to see the Mission E. Should be sweet!

I cannot stand Musk...thus never consider one of his cars. Pretentious f'ing *****.

I don't like the build quality of Teslas and I don't like the spartan interiors (I like tactility and buttons/knobs you can operate while driving; giant touchscreens annoy me). You pay for the powertrain, which is definitely awesome.

Have an S5 now and would honestly never, ever switch from Audi if cost/maintenance wasn't considered. The problem is, I bought a 63k car that has required $9k+ in maintenance in under 50k miles (granted, seven years).

I absolutely adore this car, but keeping a German car on the roads is something I won't consider again without hitting the lottery.

I have owned many Audi's. I am an Audi "guy". Not one of them have I owned past the warranty period. No way. So as you can guess...I get cars every 4-6 years or so...depending if new or CPO.

You're a very smart man. I wanted to get rid of this car in March but thought "ehh, I'll hold off another year to get something I really want", and seriously paid the price. I love the car and truthfully feel I would be happier in an S5 SB compared to the G70, but from a price perspective, I just can't do it again.

Like you Audi guys I have owned several BMW's but also sell shortly after they hit 80,000km because I don't want to deal with anything unexpected.

I am also not really surprised that there is no vote for the 3 series on here. BMW has unfortunately been falling behind the last few generations. Back when I bought an E46 3 series, I remember thinking they were way better than what Audi or Mercedes had. E90, same thing but not by as big of a margin. Now Audi and Mercedes have not just caught up to BMW, but passed it. BMW will need to do a lot with the new model coming out if it wants to be at the top again.

As for the Model 3, if there would have been one available for a test drive I would have driven one and considered it. I only drive in the city so an electric car wouldn't be bad for me, but I would never order a car I haven't driven, and with Tesla build quality, I would never want a car built in the first year, or maybe two. Although even if it was available for test drives and the build quality was good, I am still not sure I would buy one as the price is obviously high and I am not sold on the looks yet. I assume I will consider it when it is time to replace the G70 in 2022. :)

In order of preference, because I test drove all of them.

C43 AMG, keeping in mind it'd be the 2019 facelifted model - was everything I wanted, but was also 80k for a G70-comparable spec. Couldn't justify that money on a car. Amazing to drive, crazy sound, extremely comfortable. Very possibly a future buy once finances allow.

G70 Sport, which I got. By a pretty wide margin the cheapest of all but the Infiniti on a lease thanks to a high residual, especially with the maintenance factored in. Actually within $5/week of a Golf R.

Audi S4, great car but lease payments are absolutely nuts. Not as engaging as the G70, I thought. Dealer experience was very meh.

BMW 340i, very dated and feels slower than it is. As a former BMW owner, this is a very disappointing car.

ATS V6, well it feels very much like a GM product and not as a premium vehicle. Didn't like the dynamics, dealer experience was very bad, in typical GM fashion.

Q50 Red Sport is last. Steering is horsecrap, doesn't nearly feel like a 400hp car, and it's got the interior of a 2014 Nissan, which is not a compliment. I had a supplier rebate and would have had a better price than the G70 but I didn't see myself enjoying it.

Totally agree with your order. I also drove the Lexus IS350 and would put it after the BMW and before the ATS. Nice refinement but slow. I also drove the TLX and it would have been tied with the Q50. Better ride and steering and nicer interior but slow.

Agreed on both. Quite simply there's nothing as fast as the G70 Sport in the sub-60k market in Canada. Then you factor in the no freight/PDI, which is another $2k+ saving on the competitors, and the 5 year maintenance, and then in my case the insanely cheap insurance for a new car, and finally the fact that the residual was surprisingly high, which means my monthly lease payment is the lowest than about all the quotes I've had. My boss pays more money for his A3...

It puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it, so I'd make the same choice over again.

Since I currently have the Audi S5 Sportback, I chose the S4. :)

Obviously, this is all an entirely hypothetical thing I made up just to find what everyone on here's underlying preferences are.

Having said that, fuel economy does not weigh into this poll.... fuel economy relates directly to dollars, which is taken out of this. This is a "pure driving experience" poll not taking into consideration ANY costs whatsoever.

My comments were not cost related. Unless your hypothetical gives all your choices infinite fuel I would still have to fill up at some point after all my fun driving. I would like to do that as little as possible.

I guess I see this group as dual purpose. So I have to factor the fun in with the daily useage experience. If it was pure unadulerated driving experience, with nothing else, I probably wouldn't buy any of them.🙂 But the need for a daily driver pushes me into this group of compromises.

Meh, I see people DD their Lambo Gallardo Spyders in the winter here so I want to change my vote for something ridiculous like a Lambo! If you have the money then YOLO -- might as well drive a convertible in the winter with the top down, parka zipped up, and heat on max. I've done it before!
