  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just thought I would let everyone know the wireless charging will work with a Note 9 and a Spigen Tough Armour case. I'm surprised that it does as the phone will not sit flat on the charging pad with the case on. It does sit flat on the charging pad without the case on the phone.

I can also confirm that an iPhone 8 Plus with a decent hard case works immediately and properly. Love it.

Good to know guys! Any report on how fast phones charge on wireless as opposed to USB plug?
Also, wondering if you need to be plugged in for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay? Last I heard was that a plug is required, but hoping they'll get it working with wireless.

Just drop the pone in the slot and it charges. My Samsung S8 takes longer than the cord, but keeps it charged all I need on trips.

Yes, wireless CP and AA not available yet.

Have you heard that it WILL work at some point? That would be encouraging...
I'm sure it will come, but only a few cars have it so far. Big question is, will it work with an update to existing units?

The G70 seems so connected that I can see software updates adding wireless in the future.

I had someone wave me down to ask how I had google earth on my factory screen. Showed him that it was android auto and he was impressed. Thought the car looked good too. :)

I don't use it all the time, but when I do use android auto I have the map show the google earth overlay. If you want to zoom in and move the map around lots it isn't as quick as on the phone, but just driving it tracks smoothly and looks cool. Really good at pointing out POI's as well I find. Data doesn't seem too bad either but I haven't looked too close at it.

As for charging, the only time I use the usb is when I am using android auto and it adds maybe 1% every 10 minutes and the phone gets got. But that could be due to the google earth...

Does it have wireless Hotspot? If not, doubtful that it will be a software update. AA wireless requires wifi direct so it'll need actual hardware components built in to do so. I hope it does though.

My Note 8 with a UAG Monarch case works with wireless charging!

Probably not. Wireless AA/ACP needs Bluetooth 5.0 modules.

I seem to remember that none of the Hyundai/Genesis models has wifi hotspot capability, which is required by wireless ACP/AA, so a software update is not going to enable it. Perhaps 2020 models will get them, one can only hope.

Excellent. Really holding out for this car.
With that said...ANYTHING bigger than the iPhone 8 Plus will not fit. Might still charge if not raised too much off of the pad.

So they didn’t scale accordingly as these phones get bigger and bigger.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and it fits nicely in the wireless charger even in a wireless charging case. The phone is 3.06 inches (77.8mm) wide. No other Apple phone is wider including the new iPhone XS Max which is only 3.05 inches (77.4mm) wide. So any iPhone will fit the charger. Android folks, you are on your own.

Well the new Apple behemoth that was just announced won’t fit.
