  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Blind Spot Detection in HUD display

works at any speed above 0, doesn't work if you are stopped. I have seen it highlight when accelerating from a stop light. I believe however it requires the object in the blind spot to also be moving.

This may be true on your G80 but I would be surprised if it were different from my G90. My manual says
The system will activate when:
1. The system is on.
2. The vehicle speed is above about
20 mph (30 km/h).
3. An oncoming vehicle is detected
in the blind spot area.
• The initial warning alert time for the
Lane Change Assist can be adjust-
ed. Go to the 'User Settings →
Driving Assist and select Lane
Change Assist' on the LCD display.
You may select between the two
stages you prefer.
- Normal/Late

Note that if your vehicle is travel-
ing much faster than the vehicles
around you, the warning will not occur.

Personally I have found the system to be 100% reliable thus far. I have never had a false positive or a false negative. Although I am sure anything is possible. Once in 18 months I have accidentally turned off the system (or the system turned itself off).

I get the false warnings in the same basic area on my commute to work and I got them in my Lexus. So i suspect it is RF interference from something in the area.

As for the speed thing. I’ve seen it happen many times from a start rolling through an intersection with dual left turn lanes. It alerts me to the car on my left (I’m in outside lane) as soon as I start moving because my signal is on, I take this turn every morning dropping my kid at school and I am not moving any where near 20mph.

I, too, am having a problem with the HUD not showing the blindspot warnings. Someone mentioned Magnetic disturbance. As a matter of fact, twice in the last week, my media player went dead for 10 seconds and came back on. Is this a coincidence? I think not. Any sense on how to reset the system to the HUD works properly?

Question: My Blind Spot Detection (BSD) in the Head UP Display (HUD) occoaionally get turned off without me actually turning it off. I have to go back into the HUD settings and "re-check" the HUD content to include the BSD. Then in a day or two it goes off again. Is this something that i am inadvertently doing to cut it off?
I have the same problem, sometimes when I hit the (start/stop) button to shut my car off I get a total electrical shut down. I restart and then everything is fine (as far as I can tell) but the BSD for the HUD is unchecked.
