  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

This is the email response I got this week from Genesis customer care. I had asked when the G70 would be for sale in my local market here in NC and this was the response they sent me:

Thank you for taking the time to express your interest and enthusiasm for our upcoming, all-new 2019 Genesis G70. I can assure you, and if you’ve read some of the recent press reviews of the G70 those third party automotive experts can too, your interest in the G70 is very well placed.

We are working to bring the G70 to your area as soon as possible. If you can restrain your enthusiasm a short while longer and wait to purchase a G70 when available, your patience will be rewarded with one of the finest luxury sport sedans available.

As of right now we are being told the G70 will start being released next week.

More information of release dates can be found here:

I know...there are no release dates at that link. This was the response about when it would be available in Charlotte, NC...so, next week. The detailed pricing is at that link for each of the models.

"As of right now we are being told the G70 will start being released next week."
Somewhat ambiguous as to whether they are referring to Genesis being released next week in NC or in general. I hope NC is included.

Something tells me these first few dealers are going to price gouge.

I sent an inquiry to Kevin Smith a few days ago asking about the CA release and got this response yesterday. Looks like NV and GA are first out of the gate!

=====================================================================
"Thank you for your interest in our first-ever, all-new Genesis G70 luxury Sport sedan. Your enthusiasm is well placed! If you’ve read some of the early reviews, you can see it truly is an amazing car!

I’m so sorry for your frustrating experiences thus far! Not to make an excuse at all, but I guess this is the short-term pain we must go through to all benefit from the long-term gain an ultimately stronger, more customer-focused retail network will provide in the near future.

Since we are in the midst of re-building the Genesis retail network at the same time we are launching the first-ever, all-new 2019 G70, it will be a bit of a staggered state-by-state rollout of all our new retailers as well as all our new 2019 vehicles. We’re endeavoring to bring full states worth of Genesis retailers online at the same time and we’re somewhat at the mercy of the states and the new retailers in working through all the required processes and paperwork, so it’s very difficult to know with certainty when new states full of new Genesis retailers will become operational. Please check Genesis.com regularly as new dealers will be shown there as they become operational. I know, for example, the first of our new Genesis retailers have become operational in Nevada and Georgia.

Best regards,

Kevin Smith
Genesis Motor America"

Nevada yes! I’ve been checking around since I live in Vegas. Now here’s hoping you guys don’t all come here right away and drive my prices up :p

It's just a car...they will be available every where else soon enough. ;)

Lol if it's one of the only places, I think the price will be high anyway. Maybe I'll email and ask when my state will be getting them. I thought someone said VA would be first. I wonder if it's coming shortly after GA and NV. Maybe it was @Beefer

Let's hope so. I'm not very confident though. Could be early next year.

I’m not so sure they will have that luxury.

I live near the headquarters of Kia USA. The nearest Kia dealer has 33 Stingers and I’ve only seen 3 driving around since they’ve gone on sale. We are in the know about the G70. The G80 is a great car, but all around me on the road are a bunch of Lexus ES and Mercedes E Class. The Genesis brand has still got a long way to get recognition.

Genesis sales have been terrible this year, even more so the last few months. My thinking is those dealers that get G70s will be happy to actually be able to sell something.

On the other hand, if the supply is low, that would give the dealers a better hand to play.

At least the Stinger has been advertised. I certainly hope that Genesis starts letting people know they exist. Everyone knows Frigidaire refrigerators and Bayer aspirin, but I'm still asked, "what's a Genesis?"

I can see minimal discounts at first but I don't think they will be looking for a premium. Dealers want to get some cash flowing too.

So I see two key sentences here

First:
We’re endeavoring to bring full states worth of Genesis retailers online at the same time and we’re somewhat at the mercy of the states and the new retailers in working through all the required processes and paperwork, so it’s very difficult to know with certainty when new states full of new Genesis retailers will become operational.

Second:
I know, for example, the first of our new Genesis retailers have become operational in Nevada and Georgia.

Does the first of our new Genesis retailers mean one, or some or all?

So my conclusion is that unless you know that ALL the Genesis dealers in Nevada and Georgia are ready, you really can’t say that:

The area is drowning in Teslas as well. I’ve only seen 2-3 Stingers in this area since launch. I’m tempted though with all the discounts lately. Seriously wondering if a Genesis badge and feature set is worth it.

With all this disorganization on their highest anticipated volume car, I'm leary now and getting in patient. I contemplated the Alpha Romeo after seeing one up close today. What are people's thoughts on that vehicle?

Nice car. Would not touch one. Read up about reliability and service.

Beautiful car. I considered it. Reliability will probably suck. They couldn't even get the press cars working right at one point.

My interpretation from Kevin's note was that each state would get a "green light" signal at the same time so that each state can be competitive within that state and any dealers that are not ready are simply not ready or dragging their feet. Based on that, my guess is that the only states at this time that have "signed off" on selling the G70 are NV and GA and most if not all dealers in these states are now ready to receive cars. Other states still have a yellow light and still negotiating or finalizing the paperwork.

TL;DR:

We can't tell you anything but it will be available "soon"
