G70 US Availability?

Well I almost had a red dynamic edition today. Slapped a 2500 deposit because I didn’t have time to purchase today. He brings the price to us and they tacked a 5k premium to the sticker! Out the door was 58k and change!!!! I was livid. We walked away. I would have been the first one in Va to have this car. So bummed but I’m not gonna pay OVER sticker.

The drive was incredible. The interior was amazing. I also drove a 2.0 L and it wasn’t even close. Plus the seats aren’t real leather. Don’t let them fool you! The whole feel of the cabin felt much cheaper than the 3.3 L.

I guess I will have to wait until the excitement wears off. The dealer said that someone will pay that price so they were not willing to negotiate. UFB!!!

He also said that the other genesis dealers aren’t allowed to sell 2019 cars. I think that’s a line of BS.

There were a lot of people looking at the cars today.

So bummed I need a glass of wine now.
Good call, not buying today under pressure.
is this the "premium" customer treatment Hyundai was promoting through Genesis-only exclusive dealerships? 5k Above MSRP ?! are you kidding me?! I rather deal with the non-premium crooks at regular Hyundai dealerships.
way to start on the good note Genesis !

Sales guy said he didn’t know about the gouging until he went to get our pricing. That’s gotta be BS. I feel upset that I walked away but my husband said he’d never pay over sticker and it’s an insult.

Walking away is the right thing to do. I'd not pay $1 over sticker. I remember when Honda dealers were doing it many years ago and people paid. That just keeps the price up. Walking away helps everyone long therm.

It doesn't pay to be an early adopter. Relax and wait until February for pricing and availability to settle. Did the Stinger also have price "adjustments" over MSRP? It's not exactly red hot anymore.

It is a privilage for any mainstream car dealer to get full MSRP on a new car! The thought of these douchebags to include a 5k FU fee adds insult to injury. Sure my dealer added $1,500 to the sticker for nitrogen and wheel locks, did I pay it?

I step forward and three steps back. For shame Genesis of Alexandria.🖕

another reason I'm going to wait for the Hyundai circle pricing to be released through my company. It's generally a fair price and they are required to take off any additional rebates off the circle price. We have 2 hyundai's in the garage so I'll get a loyalty discount too. Dealers are out of their minds asking over sticker price. So much for Genesis trying to be a "luxury" brand treating customers this way.

We have to keep in mind it is not Genesis doing this but rather the dealership. As far as I know, Genesis, or any auto manufacturer, sets the MSRP, final pricing is the dealers decision.

THhere is Safford genesis and Chantilly Genesis. They can sell 2018. I guess they haven’t gotten their new licenses or something

I sent emails to Safford and Chantilly asking them about their status. I just heard back from Chantilly: "My name is Jamar Hatcher with Hyundai of Chantilly. We recieved you inquiry/question from Dealer.com in regards to the 2019 Genesis, and the License. We do not have an ETA on when that will be acheived, We are hoping within the next 60-90 days. What vehicle in specific are you looking for? I can keep you Up to Date on your vehicle(s) of interest. Look forward to talking with you."

I replied I was posting for someone on a Genesis forum who almost bought a 3.3T at Alexandria today but walked because they are asking $5k over sticker. I'll update if I hear back.

I just searched for dealer licensing search in the state I was looking for, seems like most state have it available. Colorado - Verification

Pennsylvania - BPOA Portal

You will have to fool around with the wildcards (seems like % works for all), drop downs etc. What I did was first make sure my search process worked by making sure dealerships I knew existed showed up then changed the name to be genesis rather than ford, Hyundai etc.
Happen to have a link for North Carolina ?

My husband is going to write to genesis and tell them we have found out why the sales are lacking. Because of shit like this! I’m getting turned off to the whole brand right now. Where did I put my wine? Ugh!

Couldn't find any search available on the dmv/dealer licensing site. I did find a search on the Secretary of State's site. When I search for Hyundai quite a few dealerships come up. When I enter genesis I get a lot of hits but the ones I looked at were not Genesis dealerships. North Carolina Secretary of State Search

Interesting. I reached out to them online everyday last week and got no reply. I had been in touch with a sales guy but he must have quit. Thanks for doing that and please keep me posted!

Wow, some of the dealer stories are making me even more glad how they launched in Canada. I'm ok with paying sticker (the no-haggle price) if I know that (a) it's a decent value and (b) I don't think anyone else is getting a better deal, but I would have walked away if a dealer tried to pad the price just because they thought they could.

And that’s exactly why they did that because they think they can. Maddening. Dude intimated that that gouge was for that particular model because there were only 400 of them. It would also apply to the design edition too. But still. Annoying AF

That's a load of BS. What about the interior of the 2.0T felt cheap, besides the leatherette/cheaper seats? Was it an Advanced 2.0T? I'm just hoping the Sport 6MT isn't as cheap feeling as the base 2.0T since it does have the Lexicon audio, memory driver seat, etc.

This is correct (not that it makes it better). THIS ISN'T EVEN A "SPECIAL/NUMBERED" PRODUCTION CAR.

The cabin felt smaller for some reason. The seats not as comfy. The stitching also felt cheap and there was no contrast (black on black). The steering wheel felt different as well. It’s hard to describe but the overall aura felt cheaper to me. Even my husband said so and another person who was there test driving the cars. It’s obviously a very personal thing but for me the interior means a lot.

Oh and only heated steering on RWD. annoying because I wanted the AWD and heated steering. No clue why they do that.

AWD Sport has heated steering wheel.
