  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Head-up Display Content

After driving a loaner G70 2.0T Elite while my sport was in for service, I definitely think the HUD is something I wouldn't want to do without on the G70.

Without the HUD, it is really apparent how busy the speedo is on the G70. I don't find it easy to see your speed at a glance because of all the lines and numbers (likely this will be better on the US cars with mph).

Also, the speed limit displayed on the HUD is really nice and without HUD is is displayed in the top right of the IP and is not nearly as easy to see.

Finally the green steering wheel and lines for the active steering are really easy to see on the HUD so it is easy to see if the steering wheel disappears and you need to take over. Without the HUD it is just a tiny icon in the bottom left of the IP and not easy to glance down to see and not very noticeable if it suddenly goes out. It makes the system way less useful imo without the HUD.

Edmguy,
Thank you for the excellent INFORMATIVE post. This is the kind of thing we "Can't get'em yet" foreigners hope to get from this forum.

^ +1. the CAD spec speedo isn't the best for quick reference. not sure if US will have different or fewer graduations, but ours is very busy as Edmguy says. HUD is a much more user-friendly gauge.

Does the G70 don't have a digital speedometer with lane keep assistance lines in green/white in the LCD screen located on the center of the IP? My 2016 Genesis has it.

You can have just the digital speed in the center LCD screen, with the tiny active steering and LKAS in the bottom left, or the large lane keeping lines and steering wheel on the screen but no digital speed. With the HUD I haven't used either of those screens, but they would help if you didn't have HUD.

Only shot I can find right now of my dash to show the busy speedometer:

And thanks for the comments guys. I try to keep in mind that there are a ton of people here that haven't had the chance to even sit in the car yet alone purchase one. I consider myself very lucky to have owned one for almost 6 months and to have driven almost 13,000km. :)

Yeah, that is busy. I think MPH as opposed to KPH would help somewhat. Even the smaller MPH display inboard of the KPH in the picture looks a lot less cluttered. Put that on the larger-diameter of the outer band and it should look a lot better, as it does here:
