  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

It a game. You seem to know how you play it. One thing you can be sure of, the dealer made money or you'd not be driving away with the car.

Ed is right on the money here. It’s all an illusion. The dealer knows exactly what he can sell it for you know about what you will pay. You both have to guess the others number. The dealer makes the deal and to make you feel like you won. If you think you negotiated away the destination fee in reality the dealer either was prepared to make a little less or he took to money from someplace else. Either way he made you feel like you got the best of him. In reality it a game of diverting your attention. He is not going to lose money on any deal. There are bad deals and fair deals. Good deals are an illusion.

I agree with you completely. My point was more along the lines that those that avoid negotiating and going back and forth tend to get worse deals.

Also: read my previous post, exceptions do exist.

So while this is generally true, I actually have a good friend who got a 56K fully loaded Ford SUV a month or two ago for 40K and it was sold at a loss for the dealership. Tedd Britt Ford in Fairfax VA.

One of the mechanics there is my childhood best friend and he explained that because that dealership is top 3 in the country in sales, Ford will actually give them 100K as a bonus to the dealership every quarter they stay top 3.

Thank you for proving my point. That particular vehicle may (or may not) have been sold at or below cost, but it was done so the dealer made more profit. I'm not sure many people really know what a dealer is paying as there are holdbacks, incentives, and special deals that are not reflected in the dealer invoice. Dealers have been having "$100 over invoice" sales for years and making a nice profit from it.

I also remember dealers saying how the Monroney sticker actually helped them make more money once they discovered the work arounds.

There was a few comments about the freight cost on the sticker. If you want an itemized list, there it is. Marked up just like all the other items. We demand an itemized bill from people we hire to do work for us, then complain when the auto industry does it.

Here are some pictures I took 3 hours ago at Genesis North Plainfield. I saw all colors but Black Forest Green. First time seeing Siberian Ice and it becomes my first choice.

That is a unique and beautiful color.

So the fact that we have approved dealers but yet the amount of cars arriving are few and far between, makes me wonder where the breakdown is in the supply chain. I mean if the problem was just getting the paperwork for the dealerships I imagine I would have my car already since they would have all sorts of colors and trims ready to go. And yet mine can’t be found even though my dealer is checking the logs for their ports every day. Ugh, just a Sunday night impatient rant for this week as I continue to wait and go past all exceeded plans I’ve set for getting a new car

Saw the SI color on a 2.0, very hard to describe color, unique and beautiful for sure and if I was a white or silver car kind of guy that would be my choice in a heartbeat

Did your dealer require you to give them a deposit before they checked the inventory at the ports? I know of someone, member here, that had to give them a $500 refundable deposit before they would look at the inventory. They were told it was a Genesis USA policy to not allow dealers to look at the port inventory without first getting a deposit. Sill rule in my opinion.

Sounds like something a dealer would make up to get you to feel obligated. Makes it a little harder for the prospective buyer to get up and walk away. I'd not trust them.

That was my take on it also but the member said the dealer insisted it was a Genesis Corp rule.

He did not, I haven’t even had so much as a credit check. As it should be.

I'm aware of the title of the thread but I don't see any for lease so I'm going to ask it here:
Is anyone interested in leasing a G70? Has anyone got a qoute for a lease? I'm just wondering what they are offering and what kind of numbers I should expect? RV? MF?

When I checked with Edmunds the numbers for the G70, or any 2019 Genesis model, was not available yet. Beefer talked to a dealer about a 3.3t Sport and that dealer tole him the MF would be .00071 and the RV (36/10) would be 55%. Hopefully in November there will be more dealers in more states and the lease numbers available on Edmunds. It is always nice to check the numbers the dealer gives as they have been known to raise the MF. No incentives other than a $1k for owning a competing car (Audi, BMW, etc.)

There is a lease thread.

Sweet. Besides that...did you try to haggle below MSRP? Like even $500? What about haggling destination charge or any of the other fees that pile up?
I have not tried to haggle yet. I figure I'll do that in person when I go up there. So far all transactions have been over email or phone. I don't know how hard I will try, but I may as well try something.
