If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

It would come down to how long you intend to keep the car actually. Being logical is one thing, but what you'll be happy with is another. With the addition of a; negotiated employee discount 10 year Service Plan which cost an additional $1300-$1500, you'd have no worries over maintenance or repair. Infinity, doesn't offer such a plan either, keeping in mind an Infinity is just another Nissan, under a different name. I'm just not impressed with Nissan products at all or their service departments. I've owned two in the past. It took me the second one to realize, I ought be looking elsewhere.

LOL I know Beefer is going to be all over me :)
Yep, he needs a Guinea pig to make his fortune telling come true. :moon::hillarious:

Did the maths and my payment with insurance included would be $100 less a month on the Red Sport. But the included maintenance tightens that gap a bit. It’s nearly a wash. I guess the big decision really is the depreciation since I don’t lease. $11000 off a Red Sport takes a huge chunk out of the depreciation and I’d venture to say considering both cars over several years the Infiniti is going to be the better deal when it comes time to trade one in. I think my reasoning is logical? I know this forum will be heavily biased towards the G70 but any thoughts?

I’m a huge numbers/logic guy but there comes a time when you have to put them aside and use emotion in the decision making. Use the math to calculate the payment and make sure it can be done. Once you know things make sense mathematically then move to emotion. Will you be comfortable with making that payment? Which car would be more pleasing to own? Which one do you have more confidence in? Etc. When making a decision to buy a car or which car to buy, it mostly comes down to feelings not numbers. Good luck with your decision. (y)

Haha...tough call. So hard to predict depreciation.

But the RS is already known to be unlikelable as per folks posting reviews, etc. Is it known to have issues?

Now...the G70 has no complaints...everyone seems to love it. And...no issues with it. Canadians have been driving them for 6 months and no issues.

Which are you more passionate about. Which one makes you smile when you walk up to it...and then sit in it which is obviously most of the time :)

You didn’t bust my balls as much as expected. I sent pics of both cars to friends and it’s been a split decision. Outside of the infotainment/navigation I really liked the interior and the tighter cockpit feel of the Q50. The G70 was awesome as well but the cabin felt a little hollow if you know what I mean. I can say they felt different but honestly can’t perfectly explain why. I guess the Q50 just felt more comfortable, more visually connected to the road. The G70 had a noticeably longer visual of the hood in front of me. The Q50 seems to show more of the road in front of me if that makes sense. Performance wise they are pretty much identical but the Q50 felt and looked faster.

But that damned info/navi. The G70 isn’t even that great but it still killed the Q50. Mind you I’m coming from a 2011 FJ so any infotainment is an upgrade.

Since you're a logical numbers person (me too), definitely go for the highest number! I drive a G35 and doubling my number to G70! Q50 is just a 50, a 70 is way better! Have your carrot cake and eat it too!!:grinlaugh:

Saw somebody driving one with temp tags in leesburg, va today

Your reasoning is logical, but the unknown is the depreciation of the G70. You have past history to look at on the Infiniti and the future will probably not be much different.

If Genesis continues to stumble, the G70 can be terrible, but, if they turn things around in the next year or so, the G70 may become a very popular car with less than average loss. Short term, I'd give the depreciation edge to the Infiniti but as the term lengthens, I think the curve will bring them closer.

I wonder if a visit to the Genesis salesman and telling him your logic would give him enough to nudge in your favor. Either way, they are a decent car.

The infotainment in the Infiniti products is an automatic no from me despite how much I love their design language - I think the Q50 is a gorgeous car.

The G70's infotainment is Android Auto... All that I need: Spotify, Pocketcasts, Google Maps and Waze.

Oh and here are some pictures I took of both cars if anyone happens to be interested

I noticed Glassman stickered the trunk with their name on the left. That shit won't fly for me. I'd ask them to remove that before taking final delivery. (I also replace dealership license plate frames - no free advertising)

And thanks for taking pictures!! I can't get enough of looking at this car.

My standard retort if you want a dealer sticker and/or dealer license plate frames that will an additional $500/ea discount for advertising fees. :thankyouspin:

I've had great luck with Infiniti. I drove a G37 6MT for 6 years (absolutely loved it) and a QX50 for the past 3 (another great car for what it is). When I discovered the RS400, I was pretty sure it would be my next car.

But then I started to do some digging. You've already noted the steering issue and the outdated tech. But an even bigger turn-off for me is the run-flat tires. They drive terribly, and are susceptible to side-wall failures according to multiple reports. Some of the video reviewers recommended taking them off and replacing them immediately.

By all accounts, the car simply doesn't handle as well as its predecessors with mechanical steering and conventional tires. The power is the big lure but more power with less handling isn't a combination that appeals to me.

So, as much as I wanted to love the Infiniti (and I do like its looks a lot), it just has too many shortcomings to stay on my consideration list.

I haven't driven a G70 yet, so I'm not sure what I'll think when I do. On paper, it looks like a winner. If I dislike it for some reason, there are other alternatives at the ready. Despite the seeming inconsistency when compared to the G70, the Mustang GT in top trim still intrigues me. It's fast as stink, handles really well, and has a much nicer interior than I expected based on those of a few years ago. No back seat to speak of but I don't care. It also has very good tech with a superb digital dash display, tuneable exhaust, and lots of other nice little features. The Audi RS5 coupe would cost more but is also intriguing, I'll probably drive one next week. But the Q50 RS400 is pretty much off the list at this point.

I'm not trying to persuade anybody one way or another but just sharing my individual perspective.

Ohio still not getting G70's anytime soon. I was on a biz trip and before leaving Ohio today, I stopped into a dealership. Per the sales rep, the state is still in a legal battle over contracts, separate dealerships and all the cars are ported. Really a poor job of rolling out a new brand and new car. Glad I'm on the east coast and some states are starting to see cars. But, with the string of comments on pricing....I'm not sure how many they're going to sell.

What a shame.

I just watched the Redline review for the 2019 Volvo S60. Looks very nice as another alternative in this class. Goes on sale later in the year.

Even more impressive is that the Dealership I called earlier this week said two weeks...Not just a poor rollout but an even more disappointing job of communicating with your dealer network to ensure everyone is on the same page.

You hit the nail on the head. The dealers, or prospective dealers, are totally in the dark in many cases. Then again, since Genesis and/or the dealers are not licensed in many states, as well as lawsuits, they may not be able to communicate with them since they don't know who will be a dealer going forward. What a cluster!

Look at the good side. The lawyers will make enough that they can each buy a new Mercedes.

Once lawsuits start, nobody wins. Usually both side have plenty of fault too. Sad way to launch a new brand and new product. As you say, they cannot communicate with them until things are settled and they know who the dealers will be.
