  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Was just going to say...LOL.

This is what you paid $750 more over the Sport...
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires
  • Performance brake pads
  • Unique electronically controlled suspension tuning
  • Upgraded thermal capacity
  • Heated steering wheel (AWD only)
  • Tire Mobility Kit (TMK) for reduced weight

In all fairness, the Pilot Sport 4S tires are a pretty significant upgrade over the Pilot Sport 4 tires.

"To add to the confusion, Michelin also has the new Pilot Sport 4. That tire doesn’t hold the same ultimate performance focus as the PS4S and is exclusively a European-market tire, outside of a handful of OEM applications. That’s why there is an ‘S’ in ‘PS4S,’ signifying a level of performance beyond the Pilot Sport 4, similar to Porsche’s badging scheme for the 911 Carrera S versus the standard 911 Carrera."

Now ironically, right now, the PS4's are more expensive on TireRack than the PS4S...but, regardless, you're getting a limited edition car on a superior tire. Whether or not the spare tire or not is worth it should be the decision maker. Me personally, I'll eventually end up running a square 18x9 setup with 255/40/18 or 255/35/18's (slightly shorter than OEM). That way I can rotate them too.

You mean the PS4S is cheaper than the PS4's

I'm curious about this topic as well because the 2.0 Sport 6MT, which I hope to buy, comes with the tire mobility kit. I would also want to put in a spare as I've had too many flats with low profile tires in the past and wouldn't want to have to wait for roadside assistance. If anyone's interested, the Redline youtube review of the 6MT shows a good look at the TMK and the foam insert, with the battery underneath (4:20 mark). I'm assuming it's the same setup as the 3.3 Dynamic Edition.

2019 Genesis G70 2.0T 6-Speed – Save The Manuals!

This sounds dumb, but in my Mazda 3, during the winter, I throw my normal full size all season spare on top of the space saver tire since I run winter tires anyhow. I refuse to run a donut tire in any case since you're speed limited and mileage limited. My Mk5 GTI has a full size 16" steel wheel, but that's a 2006...Mk7/7.5's use a temporary spare.

If I was taking my 3 on a long road trip during the summer, I'd probably throw in my full size winter tire setup until I got back home and could get a new tire.

FYI - new 2018 Kia Stinger GT2s are currently priced about $10,000 under MSRP as they make way for the 2019 models. That's a fantastic deal and might be an option for those tired of waiting for the G70 to come to their market. I've seen some at $12,000 under, but that was 300+ miles from me. Used ones are available also so some good deals could be had.

Holy crap.

Sounds like a good deal. But I thought the interior is inferior to the G70? I’ve never seen one in person tho.

Just looked up some stingers that are used. Saw a GT2 with AWD with only 763 miles on it. Price is at $42,698. A brand new one costs $53k. The car is seriously depreciation after just one year of it being available.

I do like the exterior of them...just sucks that you can't get a 6MT with the 2.0T (and maybe the 2.0T's are more stripped out than the 6MT version of the G70?)

No I don't care about the weight, i would rather have a spare. But I can't change a tire anyway LOL

Not to worry, 3-years of roadside assistance & connected services. You can listen to Satillite radio as you wait for the flat bed to arrive. Is there enough room in the trunk for a wine chiller?

Hyundai branding notorious for horrible retention value. Just know that when you purchase.

I just noticed that my favorite dealer here in LA Genesis Van Nuys now has a website showing the G70 although I don’t see any inventory yet. Just wanted to let Angelinos know. I bought my G90 there last year and really liked the way they treated me. Johnny Bassous was my sales guy. He knew his stuff.

Edit: looks like a lot of dealers here are now showing 2019 models

What is interesting is that the Genesis website dealer locator shows the nearest dealer to LA as being in Yuma AZ. I would imagine that is because there are no California licensed dealers yet.

I was pleasantly surprised when I traded in my 2013 Sonata Limited. It retailed for $9800 on average on sites. I received $8k having 99k with new tires being exceptionally maintained. My “out the door” in 2013 was $22,800 on a $28k sticker. Probably one of the best valued cars I ever purchased. No chance my G80 sport will be worth $25k in 5 years.

Yes but that is better than yesterday when they did not list any 2019 models. Now at least the local website (I know it’s controlled by corporate) shows that they will be a Genesis dealer going forward.

Pretty depreciated at that point. Im saying retention values first three years or so. Key is you got a great deal up front. I did similar with my 14 Azera. Nearly 40k sticker and i drove it away for roughly 33k after discounts and incentives. Five years later Im ready for a change but the car is still perfect with only 70k on the clock.
