  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

This could turn me off from the car. The generous warranty was a big selling point. Now they want us to spend more to complete their warranty.

The devil is in the details.
Yeah, this isn't anything new though. Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia all do that. It's been that way for a while.

I'm not worried about the electronics insofar as the headunit. I don't agree with reviewers negatively pointing out the headunit is pulled from other Hyundai/Kia products. It's been thoroughly used, issues fleshed out and it has Android auto/apple carplay.

It is little things like that, website mistakes and other misc items that does not portray a brand dedicated to providing the best. Then again I guess they all have mistakes.
I wholeheartedly agree with this. I'm getting a little more and more weary.

I think I read somewhere that Hyundai incresed the electronic devices like radio, navigation and Bluetooth warranty to 5 years starting on 2016 but that's not the case of Genesis.

car.. lets be honest. we get our monkeys out every time there is a new car.

The longer warranty you have to pay extra for? My rule of thumb is the only reason they offer these is because one reason...they make money off them. A 3rd party warranty, or even just saving money to pay for your own repairs will more often than not be much cheaper than what you paid at the dealership. Also, that payment is locked into the whole price of your car, you’re paying interest on it for the length of your loan
This logic works if it is basic electronics or machinery.
A car can potentially save your life or kill you. And modern cars have more electronics in them than back in the day when everything was just mechanical and easy to fix.
My extended warranty on Acura has paid for itself multiple times. Drive shaft, all 4 TPMS, both headlights, transmission, and a bunch of other crap that would not have been warrantied past the 4/80k km.
Plus this is a first year model vehicle. In Canada we are lucky that it is 5/100k km but not to sure about the infotainment warranty. In the US, you guys get 2 less years and it makes more sense to extend it a little if you plan to own for 5 or more years.

What do you mean by risk your status?

Yeah...did I miss something? I didn’t see any offensive posts towards you.

I think she means because of posting a review in this thread rather than a review thread. Yesterday when she was posting while picking up the car someone said she should post a review in the appropriate thread.

Nope. Got 6 vehicles of varying ages. Rounding up to 2019 model year, motorcycles are 27, 8, and 5 years old. Cars are 14, 8, and 0 years old. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the G70 should be around for at least 8 years.

good for you. I think you are in the minority though. 8 years is a lot of years for a car as things change quite rapidly

Woulda been good info to have a few hours ago. Got the Genesis platinum warranty which is still a great deal for like $2600. Didn't even think to negotiate the price of it.

Still not too worried. My BMW warranty cost over $3k and is for a shorter term. It's already paid for itself with $5k in repairs that I'd have been stuck with.

BTW, the electronics are only covered 3/36 under the standard warranty. On a brand new model like the G70, it seemed like a good idea to protect everything for the long term.

Also did you talk to them about the dealer hold back or bonus money that Genesis pays them? It's usually around $500 - 750 and can also be negotiated off the price of the car. I'm sorry, if I'd have realize, I might have provided the info before now. Most people just are not aware of the additional $$$$'s that can be negotiated off the price of the car.

Always ask for the Invoice price of the car you are purchasing. It's generally several thousand of dollars less than the sticker or MSRP. Make this your starting point when negotiating the cost. Never start with the sticker or MSRP cost. Keep in mind every cost is negotiable. The sales & finance reps are trained not to offer this information to you. What you don't know, is to their benefit.

I've done this on nearly ever purchase I've every made and it works for your benefit. There are some websites that can instruct you in the same finer details. If anyone is interested, I can tell you how to get the best deal possible, most all the time. Give me a PM and I can walk you thru the entire process from start to finish. What to say and do. It's not that difficult and you just have to be disciplined and firm & humble (not mean or angry) in your actions and with your words.

I can post it here, if there is some interest in learning how to.
