  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up my new Genesis yesterday. I got the Titanium gray with black interior. My wife, for whom a car is simply a means of getting places, was very impressed with the looks, interior and the way it drives. It is replacing a 2006 M45 and I can already tell that it is going to be getting better gas mileage. The M is quicker and corners better, but that's about it. The Genesis is larger, roomier, is much quieter, has a smoother ride and the stereo and nav are a lot better! BUT, there are already three problems! Driving it home from the dealer, the ESC warning light came on and stayed on. I next time I drove it, the light came back on after a few minutes and it has been staying on. The sliding door for the mirror on the driver's visor does not want to slide open. And, last night, coming home from dinner (late) I turned off the AC but it seemed like it was still blowing cold air. And, there was a puddle under the car showing that the AC had been on. But I had pressed the off button and then used the fan button just to get some air, but it was obvious that the AC was still going! Minor annoyances, yes, but still requiring a trip back to the dealer.
So far I have programmed the garage door opener and connected my phone. I stored a few radio channels and the sound of my DVD audio discs is great. The driver info system has so many settings it will take me weeks to get it all figured out. I just know that I am going to enjoy driving this car.

Congrats and welcome to the club, so to speak! :)

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues already. Please be sure to keep us updated.

Hey man, I wanna say congrats on your new car i am quite sure that it is a joy. Myself, I am a big hyundai Fan i just have to ride the economic wave out before i get my new genesis. I bought me a 2001 Hyundai XG and the same problems that you are having with your car now is what I was having with mine. it started with my engine light coming on, then i took it in for the first oil change and i was on my way to the beach with some buddies and the car cut off(brand spanking new only 2 months old) and come to find out that they stripped my oil screw and all of the oil leaked out. Then they harrased me and told me that I did it.LOL calling me a lier. So they didnt want to give me a rental car so I had to talk to the reigonal manager for Hyundai and harrass him. We worked all of that out after 2 weeks of them trying to reset the computer for the enginie. 7 months after that, EVERYTHING WAS GOING WRONG..a/c wouldnt shut off, check engine light stayed on, radio blew out, had to change the head lights every two weeks, tail lights kept going out. the fuses for the windows kept blowing and did i mention my down payment for that car..OH $9,000.00..I really had alot of faith in that car. I had to trade it in for another Hyundai 2 years later and get a XG350L. That car gave me no probs. Later I was introduced to the Lemon Law. I was upset that I didnt know all of that information before hand but we learn from our mistakes. I am still a hyundai fan but i say to you read on your states Lemon Law and take that car back and get you a brand new one for what you owe on the current one. My auntie had to do that for her 06 maxima and it worked. Please keep all of your service rcpts. But once again I am not bashing your car cause I love the car, but just trying to help you out from my past nightmare.
Take Care

Congrats on the car!

I am really really surprised about the type of customer Hyundai is getting for this one. THey initially talked about BMW, Lexus, etc in their ads but I don't think they honestly figured people would switch from those companies however so far I have in this forum alone seen previous Lexus, BMW, and Infiniti owners who have switched over. Very impressive.

Welcome, and congrats on your new ride. Despite the annoying bugs, you will grow to love it. Mine is a week old today, and I'm still trying to get stuff 'setup.'

Welcome aboard, Lonny! And thank you for signing up! Sorry to hear about the issues you're having this early on. Hopefully the dealership will work them out quickly and you won't have to be back until the next scheduled maintenance...

Geez.. sorry to hear about the problems already, Keep us updated on how everthing works out..

Did you try turning the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) on or off with the switch to the left of the steering wheel?

ESC monitors the driving conditions and
under normal driving conditions, the light will
remain off. When a slippery or low traction
condition is encountered ESC will operate, and
the indicator will blink to indicate the ESC is
operating.
ESC OFF Indicator

The ESC OFF indicator will illuminate when
the ignition switch is turned ON, but should go
off after a few seconds.
To switch ESC OFF press the button. The ESC
OFF indicator will illuminate indicating the
ESC is deactivated.
NOTE: If the ESC OFF indicator stays on when
ESC OFF is not selected, the ESC may have a
malfunction. Take your car to an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer and have the system checked.

Hyundai did a market study of possible buyers and they found a surprising amount of drivers of "luxury brands" considering the Genesis. This was stated by the VP of product development and strategic planning, John Krafcik.

Here's an update: the a/c is fine, I did not know that using the recirc button turns on the a/c. The sliding door on my visor mirror is loosening up. The dealer had to order a new ESC module and they are going to install it Monday. So, not as big a deal as I first thought. I am enjoying this car and can't wait to turn in my leased M45!

Thank you for the update! I'm glad to hear everything is working out!

Lonny53: First of all, welcome to the Genesis group. Sorry about the annoying problems you've encountered. I took delivery of my Genesis two weeks ago today and so far (knock on wood) everything works like a charm.

I myself returned a 2006 BMW 530i and have not looked back. The Genesis is quieter, more comfortable and more spacious - and has at least 7 extra options and for $12,560 less!

I hope that these were and will be the only problems you encounter with your Genesis.
