  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

^ Maybe the discussion deserves its own thread, but nonetheless, the evidence shows that the G70 would have been better served (on a sales-basis) if it had another 1-1.5" at the WB.

In pretty much every review, there is commentary about the tight rear which is exactly what was in pretty much every review of the ATS, XE and Giulia and we know how they are faring in sales.

An additional mistake Genesis didn't make was scrimping on interior appointment (something that Cadillac, Jag and Alfa also all did for their entries in the segment).

It's 111.61" which is on par with the rest of its class.
I think it's probably because of how low the car is and how low the front seats are that makes the leg room in the rear feel right.

There are other factors too, how the engines sit in their cradles forces the cockpit back. The longer hood, short deck is closer to a pony car, that compresses the rear seating as well because naturally the front seats have to be pushed back a bit as well. Compare it to other cars in the class we'd probably find the motor placement and orientation a bit different. It also has a positive effect on the centre of gravity though. So it's gives and takes. I agree the low roofline and seating position is certainly a contributing factor as well as general experience packaging rear seat room. I don't think it's at the point where we can say it's hurting sales, I think dealer network and inventory are where the issues lie today. It'll be interesting to see how they address the rear seat, if at all, going forward.

I’m in shock that they’re sticking to their slow numbers. Not going to start an argument on this...but we need to wait.

We already discussed the facts and this thing is faster.

Now we wait for the big magazines to get on it and put out some official correct numbers. Bring it on!!!
We'll soon see more numbers. Good to know that the new comer spanked the old guard!
They even got a slower time for the 2.0T compared to the Koreans. Also looks like they tested the Dynamic 2.0T...does that one have the PS4 tires?

Well Volvo's efforts this year were quite compelling as well, I had it split between Volvo and Genesis going in.

I saw an article a while back (Consumers Reports if I remember correctly) that had Volvo as the worst brand to buy.

Yeah they replaced all their systems very recently so for initial quality it wasn't scoring well as they had a number of bugs. But I dont think that MT looks at that.

Until a couple of months ago, they still had a bunch of 2017 S90s on the lot and they were advertised as having the updated Sensus system that was buggy upon first release.

If none of the judges noted that the 2.0T felt slow, then I don't care about the actual 0-60 time. My only worry was that it felt slow, but I don't practically need a car that gets to 60 quickly.

Here's the thing, I personally feel it is faster than my old car. But that's what my butt dyno makes it feel like.
However, I'm not drag racing it. It feels like it is always on boost and hardly any lag. I'm constantly surprised when I pass people doing 80-90kmh and how quickly I hit 140-150kmh during the passing maneuver.

Yes I agree. I love the look of the new S60. It's one of the top choices for me visually in this segment. I wish they were available to test drive, but we don't have them yet. Although, the price really adds up when you option them out like MB and BMW. At least in Canada they do.

Yeah for sure, I priced them out and lease rate/residual alone put it out of the running. We had some at our Victoria dealership, they look good when I was driving by.
