  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wireless charging

Whao, then that is a great news for this issue because even though i never used it, i don't think another reason why to use it then. What about Spotify through Bluetooth? it is possible?

If you're using the built-in audio player in your car I'm pretty sure that any music source on your phone can be played through bluetooth. At least on my iPhone once I have a bluetooth pairing I can select it as the music output for any music app being played.

Obviously, try Spotify through bluetooth in your car then report back.

Yes...any app that plays music on your phone can go to the car via BT Audio.

Yeah...texts come in...and I can either read on the screen (distraction obviously) or have it dictated. Not sure if I can reply or not...never tried.

I use CarPlay 0% of the time. Don’t miss it but wireless charging can’t be beat. I love just throwing it in the slot. Nothing to plug in.

Siri Eyefree can speak your texts to you. Yes you can reply by speaking your message back to Siri. You can start a new message or reply to a text with Siri Eyefree (Hold the steering while talk button until you hear Siri beep). Then go ahead and ask Siri to do something like read texts, send a text, play a song on your phone. I think you can play Spotify also. Certainly works over Bluetooth without Siri.

So question. I’ve never used CarPlay. Haven’t had time to play.

I just get in my car and throw my iPhone on the Qi charger. Bluetooth is on.

Voice recognition is stellar. Nav is excellent. Phone calls and texts display. Etc, etc.

Why use CarPlay? Not like you need apps, etc...you’re driving.
Well I know for me, using Android Auto, I use it for nav. Voice recognition is just so much better through Google than with the one's in vehicles. Waze is awesome for avoiding terrible traffic. The whole experience is just better, there's album art, you can easily select exactly what you want to play, I can listen and respond to not only just text messages, but hangouts, whatsapp, and telegram messages too, etc. Now if I'm driving short distances, like right around the corner, I don't bother and just use BT and wireless charging. That's what I do in my current vehicles and that's what I plan to do when I get my G70. May not matter to you much since you don't drive much.

I would suggest reserving your judgement until after you get your G70.
Voice recognition - uses Google search, it’s pretty near perfect
Navigation - uses real-time traffic to avoid terrible traffic, also uses historical traffic to predict congestion
Album art - has it
Messages - listen and respond
All the above and no cords, nothing to plug in

I’m just saying, Try it before you make up your mind

Exactly. The native G70 infotainment is quite amazing. Love the voice recognition and live traffic.

Only thing that the G70 infotainment lacks is an updated version of AVRCP. It's using a very outdated v1.3.
Wish it had v1.6 so it can transfer cover art as well. Or at least use the cars 3g to pull cover art.

Where did you find the version number. I would like to compare it with what my car has since I can see the cover art for my albums.

For what source can you not see cover art?

Direct BT audio doesn't have cover art.
The tech specs are listed on the infotainment user guide. Also mentions that data connection radio is 3g only. Too bad since HSPA would be welcome if LTE wasn't an option!

From what I've seen and read, I've got the exact same system in my wife's 2018 Kia Sorento SXL since they use the same infotainment system as Genesis and Hyundai. I've used it extensively. It's not as good as using Waze and Google through Android Auto, for my purposes.

The voice recognition is good, but not as good as through my phone with Android auto. It doesn't let me listen and respond to IM messages, only text messages. I rarely ever text, mostly use IM apps.

Do you have an iPhone? Maybe it's something with my phone that doesn't allow it to do as much as yours does with it since I'm on android. It doesn't show album art with my Galaxy S9+ or my wife's Note 8 which are two of the more popular Android phones, so I doubt it does it with most. I don't believe it works with my Pixel 2 XL either, but I haven't used it with that one in awhile.

I live in Mississippi so the traffic data is lacking. If you live in bigger, more populated areas I'm sure the built in is fine, but Waze is actually providing info based on current drivers. There's rarely ever any traffic incidents listed with the built in system, when there's multiple listed in Waze that I can actually avoid as long as I know about them. It's a nice system, but not anywhere near as good as Android Auto which is the reason that manufacturers are adding these systems in the first place.

Also, most reviews would probably rate Android Auto slightly above CarPlay as it's much more open. We've had Waze access for forever, and Apple is just now adding it. We also have a bunch of different music and podcast apps. So for you and @Beefer it may not be worth it, especially if it's a narrow divide between how good using your phone and CarPlay is. That divide is bigger with Android though.

So, I have no problem plugging up one cord as soon as I hop in the car, thereby getting a faster charge and having a better infotainment experience, unless I'm going short distances. Of course, I'll be willing to try it again if there's an update to the system that comes with the 2020 Genesis G70.

I drive a lot, probably at about 23k miles in the last 10 months. So anything I can do to make my experience better and save time in traffic, I'm going to do lol.

I have the 2019 SXL. It is quite similar but not the exact same. The G70 is able to get SMS notification via BT but the Sorento can't. Probably just a software enhancement.

That's strange. Mine offers to let me have access to my text messages. I just tell it no.

I don't have the allow notification option on my iPhone with the Sorento but do on the G70.

On BT with the Sorento. I don't have an iPhone though. I use Android. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Edit: hmm, it's not there anymore. Pretty sure it used to be though. I remember because my wife side eyed me when I told it no 😂. I have gotten a new phone since then though so maybe that has something to do with it. I've seen that some older phones work and some of the newer phones don't since Android changed something with Bluetooth message access. Who knows.

Wish I could get album art working like Beefer and MCC. Appears messages works for them too.

Notice the extra toggle I have for the G70?

I see. On Android I don't get an option to show notifications on any vehicle. It just let's you decide if they get message access or not. Strange. Also, see my edit.
I think they are referring to Android Auto and Car Play for album art.

If you notice, MCC says no cords, nothing to plug in. That can't be CarPlay with no cords on a G70. So somehow they've gotten album art apparently. I assumed it was because of using iPhone rather than Android.
