  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Ohio is on the watchlist! Looks like Genesis of Cleveland will be the first Ohio dealer. Hopefully the river doesn't start on fire again and delay things. :rolf:

Is there a way to find out where Genesis of Cleveland is located? Just an FYI--river may be frozen soon

I drove from Ohio to Michigan to inspect the G70..
The presentation of Siberian Ice via the Genesis website looks fantastic..
I saw the SI outside during a bright sunny day and it looks white..

By the way..
I didn’t notice much difference in performance between the 2.0 vs 3.3...hence I’ll save some bucks and get the 2.0..

I apologize profusely for sharing my thoughts of this great machine to the forum..
Many members have not seen the G70 in person, let alone drive it...just sharing my personal opinion..
I test drove a 2.0 Prestige vs a 3.3 Sport..
The conditions were suburb into small stretch of highway with a watchful Genesis sales rep next to me..
I did hit it a bit...but the drive wasn’t that long..
Both were great..
But hey...if your a gem of a guy that has unlimited amounts of money/likes to stomp the pedal every time the light turns green/and plans on improving their quarter mile times daily...then yes...absolutely...get the 3.3..
For the rest of us shlubs who have families/jobs/mortgage payments...the 2.0 is great..
But don’t form your own opinion..
Only blindly follow the advice of BeefStick..

People’s reaction was to your phrasing it as there not being a difference in performance. Objectively, there is a huge difference. Perhaps you meant to say that the difference wasn’t worth it to you. Or that in normal driving the 2.0 met your needs. Those are certainly valid arguments. No one here would challenge that, because it is an opinion and preference. Totally fine. You didn’t phrase it like that, so people objected to your incorrect assertion.

@Natas I think maybe you took the comments of the posters wrong and possibly there was some wording that could have been better. From all accounts from those who have driven both there is a huge difference in performance between the two engines. When they saw your posting saying otherwise they wanted to correct, possible explain why or even determine if you were a troll trying to get a response.

After your second post, I think maybe if you would have said something along the lines of "I test drove both the 2.0 and 3.3t and think the performance of the 2.0 will fit my needs since I don't need/want to spend the extra money for the extra horsepower." you would not have gotten the reaction you did.

Edit: @mdb801 beat me too. I have to get quicker at typing. LOL

I may have said it first, but you said it better! Spot on.

All good..
Just got pumped when I saw that Ohio was on the board and wanted to share my experience..
In the large scope of things...we’re a very small group of motorists that have sought out this specific car..
Didn’t expect so much hate..
Seems to be the norm for forums these days..
Lame..

Don't take it as hate, but there are some strong opinions.

I had the 2.0 Sonata and thought the performance was excellent. The G70 is a bit heavier so it may not be quite as fast, but certainly is acceptable and respectable.

I have a G80 with the 3.8. Would I like to have the 5.0? Sure, but I could not justify spending the extra money when the 3.8 does everything I need. It cruises at highway speeds easily, can go well into triple digits if I want to, and gets away at a light when I need to. Meantime, I have the $5k in the bank. I can also cash in my 401k and get a Lambo, but then I'd have to go back to work to eat. Priorities.

Proven? I’m not aware of any auto publications that have recorded a faster time for the G70 than the S4. I don’t doubt that you’ve beaten an S4 in a race, but on average the S4 has posted quicker times.
Read my thread. Yes...proven.

Surrendered my stinger this past Thursday, so I’m really happy to see Texas might be gettting some in soon. Test driving an s4 today, and already drove my friend’s s3. Just gotta drive the g70 before making a decision.

Why’d you get rid of it?
The yellows were part of a voluntary service campaign for defective paint where Kia would either buy the car back, re-paint the car, or trade on a different color. I really like the car, but didn’t want to deal with a re-paint, and several other colors are also having paint issues. I felt like it was better to walk away and find something else.

Hey everyone!! How’s everyone’s day going?? So today I was able to test drive the G70 2.0T that was Silver and had Black seats with Grey piping. Impressions.... the 2.0T is an amazing engine!! When the guy showed me the car I thought it was a 3.3TT. I always thought the 2.0T was going to be a bad engine but man oh man was that thing impressive in every aspect. Loved the little details as well. Really impressive what Genesis has created.

It is a well suited engine for the car. I don't miss my old 3.7l v6.
However the G70 is not exactly light. It is small so it helps fool you but I needs to be about 3,500lbs or so!

It’s very true what you say about the weight. Honestly you got a very nice car. I might just wait till the 2020 model years to come out to decide.

Wow, 209 pages and we still don't have a ton of cars. I'm starting to get nervous Genesis may not got these things sold before the 2020's are coming.

I'm with you. The 2.0 engine actually felt pretty strong! It has all you power you need. Those of us going for the 3.3 are only doing it out of greed. 😬

I just want to highlight this a little bit, and hopefully people can understand that this isn't as far fetched as some people believe. Here are some facts and figures to munch on...

G70 Weight (V6): ~3887lbs
2019 Audi S4 Weight: ~3858lbs

G70 Peak HP and TQ (3.3L TT V6): 365 HP, 376lb-ft
S4 Peak HP and TQ (3L T V6): 349 HP, 369lb-ft

...Now, we could go on all day about at what RPMs peak torque occurs and peak HP occurs, along with gearing ratios; or even better, we could do some calculus and compare the areas under the curve (ie dyno) and see which one comes on top (hint: we don't need to, it's the G70). But all of that leaves one question: why do most magazines state that the S4 is quicker from 0-60? This is a good question, and no matter how much we argue about it, it boils down to this -- different testing parameters. Notice how most magazines/automotive journalist organizations have slightly different times for the S4? Also the G70? It's because their methods are slightly different. While the information they provide is very helpful when considered individually, it cannot be taken as gospel in terms of performance comparison when the differences are just a couple tenths. Instead you HAVE to test head-to-head, it's the only way to do it. That said, so far the only head-to-head comparison we are aware of is by Beefer and home slice. Considering how close the numbers are, I am inclined to side with Beefer and say that the G70 is indeed faster - but only by a hair! (still counts)

In the end, it's not that big of a deal. The differences are certainly so minimal that it just comes down to bragging rights. Hah, but for some of us that comes in handy sometimes. :3

"Conquest" question:

My bimmer 340 lease is ending shortly. I realize that I'm asking for thoughts or opinions, not official Genesis answerers.

I may extend the lease for a few months, or I may just let it expire and drive another car. If my "last car" was a bimmer, would I still be eligible for the Conquest discount, or does the lease have to be active?
